Short background: Trying out high-end spanners to see how beneficial the spanner mastery is to have maxed out on my crafter. Gem spanners with forged increased wear removed.
Not sure if it’s a bug with the tooltip or with the mastery itself as i haven’t got a coil low enough to test on, but the 50% wear removed bonus isn’t listed under Skill Effect for the diamond or sapphire spanners i’ve tried so far.
It doesn’t matter what you hit the spanner ‘repairs’ the same amount of damage each time. It will show in the status message. I’ll be online again soon to test this as well.
They’ve made a lot of changes to tooltips especially on forged stuff it seems so hopefully this is a display bug.
With spanner mastery the bonus is applied to any repair, if you are repairing the matched coil, it’s applied to the increased amount.
Also repair caps at a certain point. I don’t remember the numbers tho. I just remember someone commenting what it was on a post that someone made wanting to see screenshots of the best repair
The spanner ‘repairs’ the same amount each time you use it. I use some quotes there because it doesn’t even matter if the item is damaged. You will get a different color message when repairing an undamaged item, but it shows the same amount of ‘repair’.
Am I missing something?
I had to do the math on this one a couple of times. That’s impressive!
I’m talking about max repair it will do. As in I believe if you have it forged correctly and without spanner mastery you will hit the max amount it will repair. And you can then add spanner mastery and it will repair the same amount because it was already hitting the max amount it will do in one swing
After reading that other thread I’m going to test this as well.
That’s a poor balancing method, I’ve ordered a max repair diamond spanner to test it. I will definitely be complaining if it doesn’t provide the full repair indicated by its stats.
Well that’ll get you to 32k repair on corresponding coil. So added with spanner mastery etc you probably get the 44k. But at 32k on a dead coil there’s just a tiny portion that doesn’t get repaired. I’m not sure if the damage epic changes it or not. But I usually am repairing with my forge skill sheet or crafting skill sheet and neither have damage epic. So if damage epic does effect it there’s probably no need for spanner mastery when using forged spanners with max repair and dura.
hmm okI’ll grind down a coil soon, i don’t even know the full durability of it, tbh.
But the math here doesn’t involve the damage epic,I think that was part of the basis of the other thread, people trying to apply damage buffs to repair. This is pretty straightforward.
The spanner is doing 16k wear removed. His is an extractor spanner so on an extractor coil it’s going to get 32k.
Spanner mastery adds 50% to wear removed so 50% of 32k is 16k, and 32k +16k is 48k. As the status message indicates is ‘applied’ (again with quotes since there was no need for that much repair).
I’ll break a coil soon and see if it gets a full repair.
EDIT actually i might have some questions for @vdragon about it since I understand that coils continue to take damage after they are worn out and stop providing power or bonus effects. Which MIGHT explain what you’ve seen, if it was a one-off event.
I have no idea how to tell how much damage a coil actually has on it
EDIT 2: the spanner does indicate 48k wear removed. This is my crafter he has no damage skills or epics of any relation.
I’m not sure, without a wear indicator or durability numbers, how to perform the check for actual full repair on a coil. If vdragon is willing to provide any info on that I’ll be happy to proceed. If not I’ll still give it a go though, I’m trying to see what I have enough of to quickly wear out some refiner coils.
Here’s somebody saying they did 189k damage on a coil:
