It would take 1 corner off at a time
Doing 4 corners could make a half sphere
Doing all 8 corners would make a sphere
Could be used with lattice to make tubes/cylinders

You really do have a lot of suggestions ! I second this, obviously. I build a lot and I am bad at using chisels, but more chiseling is always welcome

But i doubt we ever see this in game considering the quantity of Blockdata
these Blocks would generate 
It would be exactly the same as current. All blocks have 8 corners and the game stores what kind of chisel has been used and which of the 8 corners has been chiseled.
