This seems to be the horizontal radius limit for the distance of blocks affecting the central crop: [20190614145853_1] Adding sand on the outside of this did nothing: [20190614145928_1] But adding sand in the inside of the radius did do something: [20190614145953_1] For reference, the ideal yam crop will, not accounting for fertiliser, then look something like this: [20190614150136_1] [20190614150336_1] Added extra screen at end so the water looks more obviously like water.

The water, sand, whatever, they can all be in any of that radius. (Use the final screenshot as reference)
