Looks like James put the cubits debate to rest, as I’m interpreting it. I knew they weren’t suddenly trying to burn us…
THIS though. From what I remember in old posts by James and I think Luca, as I’ve referenced in many arguments about plotting, plots were introduced to make regen possible and to keep us safe from trolling. Unfortunately I doubt this could be implemented so far into the game’s life, when so many players have thousands of plots, but imagine if claiming a plot gave you the entire vertical column from 1-256. Really should have been like that from the beginning.
I’d bet every cubit, coin, and plot that I own that we won’t end up getting less cubits after the update. And I mean that literally because if I were to run out of plots in the middle of a 1000 plot tower and had to become a miner for two months just to get back to it, I’m obviously never going to play again. I know it and the devs know it.
That isn’t even a threat to quit. That idea is so ridiculously stupid that it simply won’t happen. It’s like the opposite of ‘too good to be true’.
James even said in a previous post that they’re trying to come up with an entirely new system for single player so that plots won’t take much work to get, since there’s no competition. I don’t think this system they’re testing has anything to do with cubits whatsoever. We’re testing the future skill point system alone.
I’m not usually overly optimistic or pessimistic about anything. I anticipate changes to be just that- changes. I just don’t believe cubits are going to change, considering James’ posts and how early in testing this is. Right now they’re just showing us the frame of the build. If someone checks out my build in progress and starts criticizing me for having silk yellow floors and interior walls I’m gonna be like chillax man.
That said, it would be nice to have a cleaner thread so feedback and ideas are easier to find and discuss.
My kids introduced me to some minecraft modded servers with more people than Boundless has currently. It was mind boggling. I really hope this portion of the patch where they’re opening up for player hosted universes is the creative freedom Boundless has been needing.
I could easily see a day where the Boundless universe as we know it is but a small sideshow for testing compared to the modded player hosted servers the players own and operate. I’ve probably played these MC servers with my kids the last month or so more than I have Boundless the entire past year.
The exp issues would mean squat to me if we’re given this kind of creative freedom with player hosted worlds being moddable.
I know lol, def not trying to act like I’m not adding to clutter. Mostly I’m hoping to see weapons develop and improve. Maybe once we see how the cubit situation will be in the end the conversation will shift.
They’re cool man. Really cool looking and tbh I’m looking forward to nerding out and making wood swords and stone maces in different colors. But the skills and fighting actions need to be more exciting.
please! And in addition to moves and combos, there should be some kind of shield bash. Maybe if it’s timed perfectly it stuns wildstock and you don’t get knocked back.
Okay. So here’s a thought. Keep in mind I’m a controller player.
Melee epic changes crawl/crouch to something else called battle stance(or whatever). When you have a shield or melee weapon in your hand you can hold crawl button and use the trigger for a secondary damage attack(thrust or downward attack). Or a charged attack by holding both buttons down and do a heavy attack. (360 spin attack)
With a shield you could do a shield bash and charge attack to give the wildstock a taste of there own medicine. Hold crawl and the trigger and pushing in a direction. Stamina would drains quickly.
I know this is a lot to do. But I think it would feel comfortable and give more variety.
Some kind of jumping attack would be great as well. I definitely like having an ultimate hunter with all the stats. And double jumping into a bunch of mobs and slaughtering them. That was fun.
One last thing. Lifting and lowering the shield was slow and a bit sluggish. As the savage hunter I am. With roadrunner like agility I want to be able to lift the shield last second block and slash quicker with max stats.
Definitely need to be able to add certain augments into the swords either the sling or bomb ones. This has the be a thing before release. Possibly design it so they sit upon the hilt.
