Testing 249: Melee Weapons, Shields and Local Universes - continued

yup yup, im more than positive a good number of players would want to run a copy of some of the worlds. i could totally see some of the original worlds being highly desired for private universes.

not if they wanted to try the game using steams 2 hour refund window… making maps a dlc means that they can install them along with the game before launching the game and avoid this window.

Wow the birthday world that does a complete color pallet change every few minutes is cool as heck.

@James What is the price schedule for private hosting? Will Boundless engine have a connection portal to the various player hosted IP’s?

No, the MMO wont have a way to build a portal that allows a MMO player to visit a player hosted universe despite the fact that would give the game a upper leg on minecraft and actually make the game boundless but is probably due to something like not being able to control the other worlds or some other legal thing.

its going to be a play on the mmo or not type thing

No admin control of local worlds plus economy balance. I’ve already made a few prefabs in preparation for this release that would be :poop:'ed on by some people on here

I’ve pushed for a year to do this with them (actually longer because we talked about it way back when private planets were being considered in the longer roadmap) and talked about the immersion that it provides over a menu system. On my last call I didn’t take the time to dive in on if the idea was completely thrown out or if they just decided to start with a menu system for ease of use because not everyone would have MMO access.

Once I can understand whether it was pulled as a perm option or not I can see if we can continue to try to influence them to do this. It would likely require another specific sized portal like they did for Creative planets and require some tech stuff. I could see a message on the portal with it being closed while the person’s universe is offline.

It would also really require us to show if it really would help. Like do people really agree that the immersion I talk about it providing is really that helpful. I even tried to just get a new looking portal that you could click or something and would bring up the menu. I believe it is important for people to know another person actually has a local universe if they wanted people to… instead of just going to a menu and praying I find it in a list.

worldbuilder.exe keeps crashing giving this error. Any ideas?

Nevermind I see it. error: worldname must be <= 14 characters. Good to know.

I was using the default nomenclature to catalogue the path so the name because something like std_t0_trailer_home_low_tier_tocolor.json

I’ll shorten those LOL.

They game is being turned in pay for play basically with the new levelling system that is coming. Get as much experience as you can for plots before the big wigs of this game dominate every player in the game cause of the scripting ability on pc.

I don’t know what makes you think this. I’ve tried the new leveling systems on the test server. Leveling is pretty consistent until you hit level 190. That’s when it becomes exponentially harder. But you don’t need to go higher unless you want more plots. Existing character will be level adjusted to match the new leveling system.
So pay to play? Only if you’re that desperate…or impatient. :man_facepalming:

I would like to know when the update will be released

When it’s ready

Which I assume more then a modest amount of people do want or need more plots, especially with the sheer amount of extra space sov worlds have given the universe.

Is going to be a problem for anyone who wants alot of plots and doesn’t like Min/Maxing Exp gains.

@James I have a bug in local testing. I accidentally tried to create a planet in my queue that the path to the .json does not exist. Now the sandbox worldgenerator is stuck in an infinite loop where the lighting data does not render and it stops and starts planet regeneration on that planet. This loop keeps the worldgenerator occupied and does not allow any further planet creation or for this planet to be deleted. I have tried to debug and disable the planet from the console but this did not yield a result. How can I disable the cache of this planet so that the worldgenerator moves to the next task?

Also, my son joined my local hosted universe and it worked beautifully. We are loving local universe! Thank you.

Here is some of the log. I can upload the entire log if you like.

Sure enough, but I guess in my mind the skill points side of the release could be implemented for all players whilst the private universe stuff continues to be worked on/tested; at least if the skill portion of the release would be feeling ready to them, anyway.

And it’s not like I want the changes to the experience to come any sooner anyway. :stuck_out_tongue: I would just like to be able to start fully using my skill pages in the way that they will be usable with this patch. Waiting has probably been putting me off a bit from the game lately.

Obviously I have no idea what their internal process/pipeline is like and if it’s possible, I think I would just like to see the portions that are ready actually becoming live if they aren’t really pending any changes themselves.

Well according to the tests I’ve done on the test server, at level 190, you have the following:
12,480 coins, 100,350 cubits, 380 skill points, 194 cleanse points. Now that’s enough cubits to buy 41 plot umbris, totaling 3,280 plots with 1,950 cubits left over.

Do you need more than that?

16,406 plots in a single beacon, and I still need more.

But this isn’t about me, I am Insane enough to beable to handle the grind, and I don’t have a problem with min/maxing my Exp gains

I can handle the proposed changes just fine, If EVE online has taught me one thing, it’s “Adapt or die.”

I am concerned about other players who may not be nearly as insane as I am or otherwise don’t want to spend most of their time grinding out plots.

I’m almost lvl 400 and have bought a bunch of cubits for plots. I’ve got about 6k plots and 2 different beacons take up the majority of those. I’ll actually probably need to buy more as my current build is about half way done(still need to build my storage). And my other one that takes up a lot isn’t even 1/3 of the way done. I’ve been putting that one off mainly because of the plots

If you don’t mind, can you share the exp per level after 190? Is it the same per level all the way after that or does it keep becoming increasingly harder? Thanks!
