Indeed @Predatoxic, I hope that I did not sound as though I was attacking you personally! If so, I apologize profusely. I’m just of the opinion that the solution that you proposed is not the best one. I definitely don’t think that I or @Zouls have “the” answer, but I do believe that of the two proposed here, @Zouls’ is the one that I prefer. I definitely appreciate and enjoy your and everyone else’s input, as I also hope that they enjoy and appreciate my own input as well.
This though, this could be cool!
I think I’ll edit my post
I have been summoned.
So: yes we have. We’re still thinking about options but here’s what we’re thinking:
-
We want the game to a strong survival element. This can mean threat. This probably means dropping items when you die.
-
Dropping eveything is probably too extreme, as you mentioned we do want to have some more valuable or exotic gear and it wouldn’t be good to lose that on death. That will probably mean you won’t drop anything you have equipped.
-
We have the idea of a second inventory (we’re currently calling it a pouch) that holds tokens (such as claim tokens for beacons which are very valuable) and gems (the most valuable, rarest resource). It’ll also contain friend tokens (like your friend list). The contents of the pouch won’t drop when you die.
But, if you had raw ores, cool block types from far away, unequipped armours or other cool stuff you better be careful when you’re out adventuring (or make sure you pay the Oort Shard cost and warp home often) or you could lose a lot. Adventurer beware, you never know what’s in the next cave…
As always, we’re still working things out and this is likely to change blah blah Ben stop talking
I remade the soul system. please share your opinions with me
YES. ANOTHER SYSTEM BECOMING LIKE I IMAGINED IT
2 : 0 For me!
@ben, Thanks for the quick reply!
I have to say, I wish unequipped armor wouldn’t drop on death, but at the same time, I guess you would want to equip something if it’s an upgrade as soon as you get it anyway so that really shouldn’t be an issue. And like you said, this kind of system makes the game feel very survival-y, so that’s definitely a plus in my book.
We want players to feel like there’s a real threat and tension when adventuring, but it shouldn’t be unfair. We have to give them some safety, but not too much otherwise it won’t feel like a survival game. So if your backpack is full, be super careful!
It also makes visiting new worlds more dangerous and exciting. You don’t know if you’re going to be able to handle what’s through the next Portal. Do you load up with goods for the journey? If you do, you risk losing them all. If you don’t take anything, you’re going to be really unprepared on the new world. Choices…
this also heavily encourages having a house.
anything else in that train of thought? something that i find to be a problem would be ways a house would be needed, if there is no reason to have one then people will only make it for fun, which is kinda sad.
I love it You guys convinced me I guess
I would still like to know your oppinions about the remade system
i already wrote i want a soul harvest skill
It’s a bit on the graphic side in my opinion, but I’m not sure I think that’s a bad thing.
The concept itself is awesome to me though. I can’t really see any down-sides right now.
I edited it (again). now you have your stupid soul havester thingy
not like this. just like skinning, but instead of skin you get souls that you keep in the flasks.
-
you are literally asking for blood sacrifice, which is kinda…
-
you idea would force them to make a way to carry corpses of animals, what if it is too big to carry? what if they ignore that then people want to carry human corpses too, and then they want to carry other things.
maybe you craft a sacrificial dagger that extracts souls like skinning?
Here is how i imagine it working.
You go out and kill an animal you then use soul harvest to take its soul
you can then go to a shrine and combine a glyph with the soul.
the glyph determines the level of the rune you get and the soul determines the properties, rare souls has more and better stats.
you now have a rune, in this case a holy rune.
you then proceed to take your hammer.
and imbue it with the rune, giving it holy dmg
not all the blood sacrifice stuff, that is really iffy.
Thats exactly what I meant (about the rune system) But I like the blood sacrificing ._.
expect it to be around pegi 13 game. blood sacrifice is not good at all. im not sure if i should suggest vampireism, bloodmagic and necromancy or if they are too much on the gory side too
But dark magic is awesome And it doesn’t make a difference if you kill the animal somwhere in the wilderness or near an altar. The altar just binds the soul of the creature to tje place where it died so you can harvest it
No blood sacrificing
