Titans in oort online

isn’t that how it’s planned to be?

Since Titans are going to drop important shards, I wonder how the looting is going to go. The safest to stop titan farming is to roll for it, unless it is going to be a semi rare spawn. The unfortunate part is that getting the party together multiple times for the same boss is a pain.

so do you want an aincent evil darkness to be able to spread across worlds and devour everyone’s stuff? that would be… inconvenient. epic, but inconvenient.

IDK, maybe the primevil can’t get through beaconized areas or something, but it wouldn’t be very nice to have your house or city surrounded by black evilness either.

OR you could have the primevil be the blackness that ordinary monsters spawn from at night, and you can drive it back with light, so you just surround your place with torches, and you’re good.

… unless it can find a secret way in…

DUN DUN DUN!!!

As far as im aware its not supposed to autoscale but rather require a group from the start, lets say 5 people to kill it, its equally strong no matter if you bring 1 or 5 people.

well, yeah, but there’s no reason you can’t Improve on that system, and maybe once you get a titan so damaged then he’ll automatically go to five-person mode.

I mean, YOU’d get angrier if this pesky bug wouldn’t just die, and especially if his sting would eventually kill you if you didn’t up your game.

its supposed to be a party event, i dont mind an enrage mode, but it shouldnt be scaled down just cause 1 dude wants to solo it.

well, okay. balance it so that multiple people have to do it, but there does need to be some way to make it’s epicness adjust for the number of players.

maybe a titan will simply change tactics when facing more players, y’know? use area effect attacks when facing armies, and use focused attacks when facing less.

you just shouldnt be able to bumrush it with an army

Try to start thinking about how small the team is and how much work that one feature will take them, i have lots of features that would be epic, but they are just unrealistic.

thats why i suggested that they could make a half bubble that had 50 meters in diameter and would only keep 5 people. rather than having to autoscale to every single thing.

making it have an automatic detection system on how many people is currently attacking it i imagine is kinda hard, but what about healers, supporters, who doesnt hit them, how would it count that?

well, maybe I could think up some algorithim for detecting how many players are attacking, and I could go on about how you could say that healers wouldn’t actually enrage the titan directly, because they aren’t directly attacking him. I could say that you could scale the titan’s rage directly by how much damage he’s taking, perhaps multiplied by the time he’s been taking that much damage.

oh, sorry, I just DID say that didn’t I? sorry! I… well… I…

I suppose he could have a large forcefeild/ring of fire around him once he gets too many players nearby. say, 5 to 10? then the other players can’t engage until a couple of the players inside die.
that way, the boss fight stays long enough to be epic, but more players always help.

but then, maybe none of these are good ideas.

My idea was just to make a field that nobody can enter nor live, so its either win or die.

but the ideas are good, but you should be careful not to underestimate the power of healers, say you have 1 tank, 2 dps and 7 healers. that would only count as 3 people,

as i said. i think an enrage mode where he hits harder when he gets low health would be both epic and possible, but i think there shouldnt really be scaling in that sense, because that would encourage fighting it solo, which is kinda the point that you shouldn’t. because they try to encourage you to group up

well I was thinking that a battle with a bunch of healers would last a lot longer, scince you tank would only be dealing the damage of one guy, which is where I got the Idea of the titan’s rage being multiplied between the Damage per second and the time he’s been being damaged. that way, before the tank could kill the titan, the titan’s damage would exeed his maximum health, and so he gets killed in one blow, then becoming free to wreak havok among the healers and DPSs.

but yeah, healers are awesome.

ohh? so the longer the fight lasts the stronger it gets? that would also be insanely cool. and a way to add a sense of urgency to every fight

glad you like it.

well im not the one who has to like it, try to make it as simple as possible and then put it up as a suggestion for the devs to read

little Idea here, IF titans could leave their areas and IF you could find them anywhere, they could make it so they leave behind giant footprints so you could track them. that would also be epic.

maybe a rogue titan would be a major world event, you know?

true, i think they talked about destruction of land in that way. like a titan would spawn from the core and crawl through an leave like a huge crater, i think it would also be cool to encounter a titan in the wild, it would just be really sad for low levels. so maybe titans get more space for moving in the higher tiers, i dunno.

problem: if you have infinite teirs of weapons and armour, would a level 600 guy be able to defeat a level 1 titan on his lonesome?

i dont think the tiers will be infinite. im not sure how high they will go, but i think ben mentioned that tier 1 - 4 might be 100 worlds. so i’d guess tier 10 or so would be max, cause its such a nice number.

It is not that hard to stay away from a giant. I am sure the ground will shake with plenty of warning time and it will have a small aggro range. Having stuff like that around makes the game a little more exciting; but not necessarily challenging.

if its on higher worlds i dont mind, i think destruction of the worlds would be cool since they are going to regen anyways, but it would just kinda suck to build a huge city that would then get obliterated by a titan >.<

also on lower levels i would prefer ot not worry about titans all of the time, cause i imagine the fighting zone would be rather huge.
