TMMK’s DK mall hub and roads are expiring in 2 weeks

Personally i dont see why People are carrying someone Else work. Its just one of the pieces of this game… Gamer quits… Plots turn To ashes… New player come To take the spot.

@Buugi I could go into the story behind DK Mall and why I “carried” the work on, but I have previously. From the point of view of @DKPuncherello, he had someone as nice as @bucfanpaka fuel the mall for an insane amount of time. That would include all the roads and the old hub. When I took over the mall, I was told to leave the old hub intact which I have done.

If the beacons had not been fueled by someone else, I would totally agree.

As I stated in a previous post in this thread, malls really are a thing of the past. I kind of hate that they are, but unless we all come together and build one central mall (preferably on a sovereign) then we will just have numerous malls that are half full … or half empty depending on your perspective.

DK Mall while a very important and sentimental part of my Boundless journey, is something of an eyesore due to the sheer size it was based on the number of players at the time it was built and now it still the same size with maybe 25% (probably less) of those players still around.

Still find it funny that you’re initially talked completely against sovereign malls and now say yourself that it’s THE FUTURE  :stuck_out_tongue:

You’re by the way one of the reasons why I didn’t work on my market idea for months. I got very uncertain if I shall really do it because the best for such a project is really a sovereign. But so many people at that time were talking against it that I really thought, why should I even build it, nobody is gonna join it even the idea is brilliant

Well @May-L04 it is a matter of perspective. You find it funny and hypocritical, but let’s break down the pros and cons.

Cons

  1. There are people that won’t put a shop in a mall on a sovereign.
  2. A sovereign means that one person owns the entire mall and determines who can and can’t be in that mall. If they have some off-the-wall reason to ban someone they could and may do that without even researching that.
  3. A sovereign could expire at any time. Just like the The Future or any other sovereign could just expire at any point.

Pros

  1. Empty shops and unplotted areas can be removed. I have learned with my experience in DK Mall, that I cannot control or be on 24/7 to prevent someone from letting their shop go and having someone come along and plot it. Luckily, I had some good people like @Solgato, @Huntsman and a few others looking out for me and claimed them and handed them over to me so I could then give it to anyone in the mall.
  2. Griefing is a thing of the past on sovereign.

I am sure there are some other pros and cons, but to say I was “completely against” sovereign malls is wrong. I just think that most players tend to want to build on a homeworld. One example was @PrincessMaude whom I know was worried about building something for me on a sovereign because of the worry of that time being spent on a great build and then it just getting reclaimed or the planet expiring.

I can also say the whole “drama” issue on Tana VII was my main reason for not managing the mall anymore it just ruined what fun I had with the mall and overall just made me not want to be there.

They can and do. I love my Sovereign planets but sometimes life gets in the way and I don’t want anyone else to lose their time and effort because my life took a change… but that’s just my opinion (and why my sovs are not really open for building for others)

If anyone wants to maintain or save a build, they’re free to do so.
If anyone wants to build a mall on a Sovereign, they’re free to do so.

Maybe everyone should stop nit-picking at each other and what someone else is/isn’t doing - especially if it doesn’t effect you.

The only way i build on a sov planet is if it has alot of time on it around 6 months to a year on it ,for the same reason @Soju-VB said he keeps his planets closed .
THE SOV planets i have builds on atm are players i known a long time and from learning who they are over time(6 months/year) I know i can depend on them not kicking me for random/no reason or making the planet go poof with out some leadway time for me to move things away from there not just pop up one day and say i am letting my planet go aand then bringing it back less than a month later wasting players time and effort.
I think that home planets should have malls still alot of players dont even want to go to sov planets to check stores there where times i saw something on the BUTT cheaper on a sov world and i just went to closest shop just because it was faster and i didnt have to go to TNT to find a portal to a place that might not be there or go to a planet that lets me warp to the sov i wanted to go to .

THERE should not be other players telling some one to let go of there mall because its what they would do.
THE mall owners should be the only ones talking about what to do and asking for help or look for some one who wants the job they paid for there game they get to deside what to do with the time and money spent on the mall yes money players buy pots we all know that

I agree wholeheartedly. Which is why I stated the pros and cons. I don’t think anyone should limit themselves on what they want to do in this game based on someone else’s opinion or likes or dislikes.

I also would never want to deter someone from doing something in this game it is one of the beautiful parts of this game. In my eyes, the game is not a game about competing malls, or competing hunts, or competing shops, or competing builds, but more of just a lot of like-minded players building a great community which is one of the main reasons I think the game is still alive.

I couldn’t resist
Honestly, not that my opinion counts haha but I would totally grab some  and sit back to watch it fade into its last sunset - it’s been a legacy mall and deserves a audience when it happens.

Be a shame to see DK Mall go away. The Slubs started our home on Tana years ago and DKs was our first mall/hub experience as well as the spot of our first shop. We loved the planet and the area so much that we built our island on it when we came back earlier this year. But I do agree that one of the best aspects of this game is its fluidity. Perhaps where DKs once was something new will rise from the ashes. If it gets rebuilt by someone with the time, even better. As a small guild we’re here for whatever comes and if we can be of any help let us know.

My main concern was that there’s like 30 active portals to the mall hub - and stuff for sale - so I wanted to at least pool the community before letting it go.

No matter what I do, there will be air plots in dkmall probably for the life of the game - abandoned and forgotten gleam club shops.

The part I control can all go. The part that TMMK owns has active shops and portals.

DK mall was amazing when there were many more players around. Did so much shopping and also selling with my own shop there. In current state old DK mall would need a good cleanup but questionable if those gleam club shop owners are reachable. At least a huge task.

New DK mall is also a nice place. That way DK mall will live on as a smaller version for now

what the hell, there’s always new shops and i’ve been working to close the holes in the floor… i don’t have permissions beyond placing blocks though. it would be effing sad if the mall died just after it finally stopped being surrounded by spaghetti

jesus christ i’m so sick of giving a ■■■■ about cities just to have people ■■■■ on them

(wrote this before realising yall weren’t ditching the new part too)

as long as were here, what prompted NEO to let go the plots around the new mall? it literally seemed to happen the same time i ashed my little city at the far corner of the new mall (which after Toon left & the next neighbor didn’t seem likely to fill in the floor i’d already planned for to do once i got to 6.5M prestige)

the old part of the mall will still be a grapple explore-adventure without the road  sad the color block museum’s going though but alas

I think it’s about old and new dk mall though…
