Turbulenz supporting Baldur's Gate 3 development šŸ›”

No, their 200k debt, which has fluctuated between 200 k and 500k since 2013 works like that. The 4.5 mil share premium account from 2014 is not a debt that accrues interest. Unless you know specifics of the investment from 2014?

And then they wonder why they don’t tell us anything.

Yes I’ve asked about financials on a high level and have known about outside Dev work for a very long while. We never talked specifics because it’d break contract and wasn’t relevant to Boundless. As with everything they do with the game they focus on staying profitable. The game supports itself or at least isn’t losing money. That means it will continue to be developed (maybe with low priority like you mention but still has dedicated Devs) and will evolve. The financials of the larger company is outside of everyone’s control and any company can go poof if a bad sequence of events happen. Why send negative vibes and instead send them positive so they stay around.

For me, that is all that matters since we have seen them slowly roll out the roadmap and complete the original list of deliverables. Sure, none of us (including them I’m sure) are happy that ā€œthe feature listā€ has taken many years versus a few years. But, it is getting done and from my talks there is clearly NO dis-interest from James in not delivering more and more content to this game. I know of at least 3 major features we’ve talked about that are being considered (not on original feature list).

At the end of the day - all games may end at some point but James spend tons of hours on this personally so I don’t see it stopping unless something big happens. So why worry about the end of the game - instead support and enjoy the game we have and do everything to help them release the next content or existing feature fix (which we know is still needed in areas) for as long as it last. Also be happy they are a talented company that has great Devs that can be farmed out for high profile projects and other work. The team loves Boundless because it is their baby so they will do their best to keep it going.

Even if it goes away one day I’m sure we will have local servers and some ability to run our isolated Universe ourselves so we can enjoy the beauty of Boundless. I’m very happy to finally know the game they were hiring and working on in the background… a big one which is good for their reputation.

Thank you for these beautiful comforting words

There is also the method the URU community ended up with. Their servers have been running on community donations for 10 years now.

I’m happy for the devs and it must be neat to work on BG3. Never got into the first two but I did love the Icewind Dale games way back when, so I’ll have to check this out eventually.

That said, it seems a lot of speculation could be avoided if they had just come out and say hey, exos are broke and we’re working on it, or whatever.

What roadmap? I’d like to know where this roadmap is, do you got a link to it here on the forum? If its insider backer information, that doesn’t count.

I wonder if they mean this (broken) page? https://playboundless.com/#features

Well they’ve been working on BG3 since early 2019, basically shortly after Boundless released so it isn’t something new.

And well, the way you feel is how you, and others, including myself, get to feeling like a few times a year past two years :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

I am not playing currently at all tho but for a different reason sadly. Had wild plans but it’s not in the cards it seems, sigh.

Yeah, the few pm’s I’ve received from James it’s pretty clear they are enthusiastic about the game and I feel they do other stuff so they can keep doing what they love: Boundless

I don’t believe I ever gave out negative vibes. I simply stated how the current state/direction of the game feels to me. I even went as far as to say that that’s not explicitly a bad thing, it simply isn’t my thing. If you’re taking negativity from that, that’s on you and your preconceived notions.

Yet again, because you disagree with my view of where the game is or might be going you assume that it is somehow a negative thing (which is a recurring problem on this forum… and yes, that is negative, albeit true).

What do we get from unnecessarily being negative about a game? Nothing, so it’s totally pointless. What do we get when we raise things we think are valid concerns? Either nothing because the devs disagree and nothing changes, or we highlight an issue and something does change.

I always say what I say because I believe it to be true, or because I believe that acknowledging it could/would make the game better. As far as I’m concerned, I am supporting them to release a more rounded and considered product. If I didn’t care about the game, I wouldn’t bother :man_shrugging:

If we want to talk about negativity, how about we talk about how negative it is always being talked down to because we don’t always jump to tell them they’re doing a wonderful job?

Sorry I wasn’t trying to agree or disagree with views or target you or others as being negative. I meant in general and just meant that I see conversations about the game going away or Devs not delivering on the time line promised or people ā€œwantā€ as negative. Not that it IS that… just as I was contextualizing things in a negative/positive viewpoint.

I’m not sure if you mean I say/said this or this is just a reference to posts that some people make in the forum. I certainly wouldn’t talk down to people and don’t think people should be jumped on for any views… at most held accountable to maybe not being fair or assuming something without all details. We’ve certainly had negativity on the forum in a variety of forms.

I’m not going to start a ā€œroadmapā€ conversation since too many people here have different views on what a ā€œroadmapā€ means and what it should look like. But, I wanted to at least reply… for me I was meaning the clear planned list of features they have talked about since EA and other updates (like Hunter mob) that haven’t been released… those things are still planned to happen when they happen.

Exactly. it is what it is, or it is what it appears. It’s neither hype monkey or chicken little. Your summation of ā€˜doing more research’ and such is exactly how I have felt for the last few years. Though at the time the game ā€˜released’ there was definitely not enough info to let one know it was a side project meant to showcase a game engine.

I’ll continue to keep an eye on the game and hope they flesh it out, more actively, over the coming years. When they do implement updates, they are generally quite good/solid updates.

Ah thanks! :relaxed: It’s so nice to see these kind of comments. I’m back from maternity today and it’s been lovely to catch up with the messages on the forum and my colleagues. I’m excited about returning to the world of animation and creativity. The Boundless dance animations were a joy to do. :heartpulse: :boundless:
