UMG claiming soundtracks on Youtube videos

I’m guessing this is now resolved as the music has been officially released by Peter and co.

Released through Deutsche Grammophon, which is a subsidiary of UMG by the looks of it.

One video of mine switched from blocked to just “copyright claimed”. The monetization part doesn’t effect me personally bc I’m not monetized, but it probably effects a lot of others. It is what it is.

I think since wonderstruck owns the rights it should be James not UMG deciding. No?

If I were a monetized streamer on Boundless I would find a new game based off all this happening repeatedly

In that case, I guess it would be about whether it’s worth the trouble. If those videos draw in more views or subs, then it could be worth the hassle. I do it for the fun though

True. I would be pretty upset about all this if I were James though. I assume they paid quite a lot for 12 hours of originally scored music

I personally <3 the ingame soundtrack and want Wonderstruck to do something about it.

Unsurprisingly many of these have multiple claims on the same video =/

Ok thanks for all the reports. Please keep sharing them.

I was told everything would be resolved once the album had been released.

I will continue to send all the links shared with the music label until this is resolved as previously agreed.

I can only report video with actual YouTube links. So please share the actual YouTube video links.

What album?

The boundless soundtrack

I’ve had the same issue with one of my YouTube videos of boundless of a no mic hunt that I streamed last year

On the plus side, guys, the newly released soundtrack is available on Spotify.

Not that that helps with the yt problems, but it’s something.

Next round of claims… at least they are still visible… but they are taking the ad revenue. Good thing I do this as a hobby / love of Boundless… Guess I should look at it as a donation… i wonder if the IRS would see it the same way

I havent checked my email in a long time. Sometime around february I got an email about a video I had on private and a claim by UMG came on one of my videos where I didnt know I had Boundless running int he background while I was recording a different game

I got two claims on the same video and I cant mute more than one claim at a time.

I do not share the link because the video is private for a reason.

I can share screenshot of the email:

P.S. I know I am replying to an old post, but today this issue is relevant to me since I am checking my email today and editing the video today because I dont want any copyright clashes on anything, not even stuff I keep for my own visual records.

Do you still see the strike when you are trying to see or edit the video?

Please don’t blame the industry.

How would you feel you write music and compose it then someone else uses it? Stop and think about the person behind that music.

My son is a composer and I now understand the legal side of music.

This is all well and good, protecting artists, but “the industry” has too much power when they can make wrongful copyright claims with no meaningful repercussions against them. There are content creators on YouTube and similar platforms that have been destroyed by wrongful claims. Those creators have just as much right to succeed as music creators do.

That doesn’t hold up with me. As soon as you release it to the public, you’ve given cart blanche for it’s use or misuse.

The laws and system do need to be rewrote, I get it.

We as a whole need to help find a fix like here with Boundless.

When my son started he too got copyrighted but he started to do his research and found correct ways to use music in videos.

If you are going to put yourself out there you must do the research.

My son started right at the start of YouTube or close to it, he was maybe 8 now almost 23 has several tracks out there that he sold. His music can be heard in a Youtubers video which I don’t ask.

Anyway back on track do your research!!!

Hoping to my morning conference

I do not believe that anyone attempting to stream basically any music is actually safe from the laws that the music industry have bought. This is not the place to debate this, though. I’m glad your son has had good experiences so far, and I hope that his good experiences continue.
