I saw entire topic about lagging (and I didn’t want to add to the list of posts there even though I experience the problem too - I wouldn’t add anything new there), but didn’t see anything about visual glitches like the one I’m posting here. Anyone having those at any rate? It shows up in many different situations - when running, building, fighting, standing, mining; can’t really see any pattern and connect it to a certain kind of circumstances. Disappears after opening and closing my equipment.
We have seen similar issue before but can you let us know the following?
Computer CPU, OS, graphics card. Thanks
Whenever I get on my computer I’ll feed ya some details.
OK so I play on Dell laptop.
OS: Windows 10 (64-bit)
CPU: Intel Core i5-6200U @ 2.3GHz
RAM: 8GB
GC: Radeon R5 M335 with 4GB memory
I also see this:
Windows 10
Intel Core i7-6600U @ 2.6GHz
Intel Graphics HD 520
@boundmore the issue you’re seeing is one we thought was specific to Intel graphics, can you supply a game log so we can have a look whether the game is maybe selecting the intel graphics on your cpu rather than the AMD card, if not then we’ll have to see if we can also reproduce the issue on a similar AMD card
Ahh yes i’ve seen this alot and in the past it was to do with Intel but saying that i don’t think it is 100% of the time due to intel know what there are doing but…for amd well thats a whole new story lol amd cards don’t support that much when it come’s to gaming so what your are prob seeing here is a feature of graphics that is not supported.
Now don’t hold this to me but i do have a intel and amd and have had countless issues in games including a few in boundless that i have to keep fixing. Another thing can cause glitches like this is your refresh rate seen that once of twice prob not in your case but it’s nice to know if you cant figure it out in the future.
Hi Ben, Intel released new drivers - have you tired those?
sorry for my ignorance but I cant see game log in the local files - where can I find it for boundless?
I hope thats the way its done
Ok so the game is running off the Intel graphics rather than using the AMD graphics, I think it should just auto switch but doesn’t seem to be. Are you running off battery or is the laptop plugged in, some laptops won’t ever use the main gpu if not plugged in. Also do you have the latest AMD drivers installed?
I plan to push a beta tomorrow with a potential workaround for this so if anyone who has been seeing the issue can take a look over the weekend, and we’ll see if it fixes things for anyone. I’ll post details on this thread sometime tomorrow.
Always plugged in. Drivers are on automatic update option on Dell support software but I might check just in case. Or should I wait for the beta you mentioned to be a tester of the potential fix?
Ok I’ve pushed a new beta called intelfix which you can access by entering the following password in the steam beta’s tab PkCtPWcemZyGlnKb
If you’ve been seeing menu corruption with an intel gpu try this out and see if it stops happening.
I’ve tried just now - got the same glitch right when I interacted to get my tools in Sanctum.
I might have found a solution - after much search for help online it looks like my switchable graphics options were off - Boundless didnt have “maximize performance” set and was most likely using integrated graphics instead of my AMD card (othergames were set properly lol);
So I changed options and will test over today if it changes things.
Ok it seems to work. Perfect visual experience now. Even upgraded details from high to ultimate now.
So whoever uses laptop/notebook with a separate graphic card and experiences glitches like in this topic: make sure Boundless is given high priority and is not ran on integrated graphics. System usually treats ‘heavy’ content (like games) as requiring graphic card and but in my case it put Boundless together with apps using less power and thus forcing use of integrated graphics. Had to change it manually.
Thank you for your patience and all help.
This makes so much sense - where is this option @boundmore? I’ll tell my friend to try it.
@blake is there anything you guys can do to force this maximise performance option?
It’s in the graphic card app. In my case AMD Something Center. Best thing is to google it as there might be differences where to find it and how some options are called.
