We need more oort from hunts instead of getting 9 to 12 oort shards you get 15 to 25 per meteor

I think someone just said wipe the game! …… no they couldn’t have. Lol :joy: anyways yea that would be an easy change for the time being until we get a full game wipe and a reset/ updated game.

@monty1 @Tiggs please double the amount of oort we get from meteors until some updates happen with this game the community would appreciate easier portal fueling.

I totally agree with you on the local universe. But I can also understand why they were trying to get it out before the whole team went to larian. I do think that when they can, they should separate the update and release the half everyone wants. I know that’s not happening for some time. And I know they want to make a better new player experience. But there was a lot in that update that was complete should come out at some point.

There is no need. I think I only run 12 portals presently and have no issues with Oort. I could very well cut the number of portals I have to 4, 3 of which are local and 1 to TNT or Dragon Hub.

If anyone is having Oort issues, please share the amount of portals you are running and/or why you are having Oort issues.

I think there might be a good mix of people wanting both halves. I know of a few people that want local universes and a few that want to see more content and a good amount that want both.

I personally think the local universes are an overall bad idea given how the game has been running a main universe for so long, but to each their own. I feel from a business perspective they can monetize and go the F2P route better with the one persistent universe.

There’s definitely people who want a local universe too. I’m not denying that.
But I’m with you on just keeping it all on the main universe at least until we have an influx of new players. Which I fully think will happen.

That could be a fix, or make portal fuel last longer. Both are viable options. I’d personally prefer it lasts longer.

The local universe stuff was expected to be rolled out in phases. They had to adjust a large part of the infrastructure to support it (rewrite some things too if I remember right). The current local planet works great but yes bringing in the Universe aspect isn’t easy since the DB and other ways of managing it needed to be adjusted.

I was pushing to keep things integrated as much as possible so we could have portals to local universes in MMO mode and not fully isolated. I’m not sure where they ultimately landed but I know they basically agreed with integration. I wanted a portal like we have on creative planets but I guess they went with a menu first…

I completely agree it should have been 2 updates. Their normal process was to break things out if they had problems like this. But, I think they were already so far in the hole of it being focused on BG3 and barely anyone on the update that they couldn’t likely break it apart. Plus as we saw free time was basically non-existent for them. So I’m not surprised nothing happened.

I want local universes to exist before that influx. And the suggested tutorial world should be within that.

People plotting on public worlds before they even decide if it’s their type of game, leaving their empty beacons all around capital cities for a whole month after the 5 hours they played, is one of the worst things that happens in Boundless. Having new players hit a dedicated tutorial world before they’re able to join public would filter out a lot of people who would otherwise ruin things for those who stay.

I agree with this, but it could simply be something built onto the Sanctum if you ask me. I don’t think a whole world would be necessary that is completely separate like a local universe.

I mean that’s true and would help the issue. My thoughts on local servers go deeper than just that but they’re for a different post… or like 10 different posts that already happened :sweat_smile:

At the end of the day I think we (including the devs) shouldn’t forget what happens when a multitude of new players shows up.

You make a great point with the new beacons everywhere. Lol. I do think there should be a starting planet separate from the universe. Where the elder from the sanctum teaches you all the thing you’ll need to know before sending you to the live universe. (Including building etiquette) He would at the end of this tutorial teach you to reclaim you beacon. And you start your journey with all your reclaimed items from the tutorial.

Yes- building etiquette. And if they could work in certain info that isn’t part of the base game but is deeply rooted in the way we play, that would be huge.

That means portal hubs. Sure, the game was created without them in mind, but that was obviously an oversight considering how important they’ve become.

They were an oversight, but at least they’ve become quite an important feature of every planet these days.

The question is how it’d affect planets, if hubs were made into instances like the Sanctuary, instead of being a player-made hub on the planets.
I’ll admit, I kind-of think I’d prefer it stays the way it is right now. Feels more community-like, and personal than an automated thing would be.

The only problem I have with portal hubs is that there are so many of them. Would be nice if the guilds could consolidate into one big hub with portals leading to that hub from their guilds/sovereigns. Divide the hub up between the guilds so that each maintains a section, or one guild control it all and everyone donate.
I know, lofty ideas…

That side of the Oort market equation was talked about before too, consolidate the networks and it reduces demand exponentially. I do agree its an idea with merit, but since many of the networks are structured differently (and different people prefer the different structures of the networks, I like ultima’s design not TNT’s for example, but the community that my “house” is in doesn’t have ultima’s system connect, but has TNT’s so I end up using TNTs more) I just don’t see this as something the community would end up supporting.

Agree that we need to change this system somewhat for sure. I have Sovereign planets. Now here is my issue. To connect my West American planet to TNT I have fuel it every 5-6 days. To connect it to another HUB that players like I have to refuel it every 4.5 days. We need a consistent amount. OR a better fuel. Hunting is a part of the game if you want portals. That is how it is. It is not hard to hunt, or find hunts to participate in. Or you can just do your own. Would be nice if we got a bit more Rough Oort for sure. Maybe mining oort from Exo’s is another way.
Back to the fuel. Compressed or refined Rough Oort to fuel the portals. So instead of having to refuel every 4 days. We can input the “new” fuel in and fuel it for a month or more. No cap on the amount of shards would even work. Remove the cap of 900 shards and problem kind of solved.

I see your planets in the sky above Storis a lot, I didn’t know you had portals to them or I’d have been over to have a look. :slight_smile: I used to like the portal seekers local shops idea and thought it would make sense to have sovs connect to the capital of the home world closest to them so a portal would only need to be fuelled every month on top of the costs of owning a sov. My other thought is that it would be nice if gleamclub doubled the amount of time you got from your oort - so you still needed to hunt or buy, but it made the game less of a grift for those who can’t hunt and have to buy.

Technically, there is a better fuel. It just hasn’t been implemented yet. The patch that never got released was going to allow for I think either compact or refined oort to be used as portal fuel. Could you imagine how long you could keep one of your portals open on that? Months at a time.
