It’s exactly 100x.
250 shards divided by 18 oortstones. 13.888… shards per stone, and there are 7.2 stones in a compact.

There is plenty of PVE gear besides hunting gear. Hammers, shovels, axes. If everyone hunts, then there is no market for Oort because everyone already has it. If Oort is too expensive, no one can afford to buy it, so everyone has to hunt. Not everyone wants to hunt. This is how you get a market. Some people do activities a, b and c, while others do activities x, y and z, and then they exchange the goods using barter or coins. I everyone does abcxyz, there is no market.
And you have a handful of players like me that do a little of a-z and engage in the market more to speed up anything in the game, and or sell to others for the same goals.
There IS Always a reason to hunt or where should all people get the Mats for Tons of fresh Essence to craft agents AS example to craft then Blocks…or the Hopper cores which are needed to Forge Just to Name 2 reasons.
I think some people forget that not everyone goes on Hunts, either. I don’t, for instance. It’s very rare that I even bother to.
Do I have portals to fuel though? Not yet, but I plan to.
I still think making fuel last longer is better than giving more of it.
I would rather have it last longer, as well. Primarily because I cannot remember to keep my portal to TNT fueled to save my life. Every time I turn around it has closed. I have plenty of Oort. Just cannot remember to stick it in the stupid portal. My little portals I have no problem with. Somewhere in between a week timeframe and a month timeframe I develop the ability to remember to stick Oort in.
I think that the compact oort would have greatly increased the percentage of forgotten refuelings. Just because it would take so long nobody would think about it.
Although, to be fair, there probably wouldn’t be that many portals in game that were ever fully fueled. I have a couple off SS and let me say, wow, that’s a lot of oort.
wait! where is this true again?
At any of the hunts advertised here, discord, and in game. Here are just a few, there are more…

been so long since i hunted, i dont even have a spec sheet to go for it. Got one handy?
It really all depends on how you like to play,
this T6 Hunter Page allows you to run through the T6 Network with no environmental problems
If you aren’t very good at dodging and staying alive you could just remove the Epic 3 Damage and put the Epic 3 Protection Epic to stay alive more, but you will do less damage with your slingbows
Longer lasting fuel is the answer in my opinion. Compact Oort or refined for even better. As for the second option we have now? Exo hunts are not for the faint of heart. Or for newer type players. Trust me. Have been on one. I used more revive potions than I care to admit. Went thru way more slingbows. 8 to be exact. Just to get a tiny amount of ichor. Which btw is what is needed for the second fuel.
I wish I could just right click on any portal that I like to add fuel.
That way I can directly contribute to the portals I want to support.
I did sent this suggestion to the DEVs years ago.
This would be so much better than donation baskets, and hope.
I see @TheVicious85 already pointed out some major hunt groups. Here’s a random quote grabbed from a hunt:
200 oort in 30 minutes is 9s per rough oortstone. Over the longer haul. it looks like @Hazel1558 averaged 12 seconds per stone across 180 minutes - but the hunt lead also isn’t always pulling the most oort.
If you fill up a small sovereign then as a group you’re doing 20x that; roughly. 20ss in 180 minutes or roughly 100 rough oort per minute. Again, as a group. 5760 per hour, or 250000 shards.
That’s enough oort shards to fuel a 1x2 portal for (roughly, heh) 28 years ![]()
The SS of rough stones (single player, 3 hours) is more like a year and a half - 1.42 years worth of fuel for someone that just wants a 1x2 to a network hub - in 3 hours of running around smashing stuff with a group.
Fun with Calc TM
Hopefully that encourages some hunters!
I go on the Gizmo T4 Hunts every Sunday night at 5 p.m. CST. It runs for about 2 hours and we tend to pull in about 250-300 oort per hour. They have over 20 platforms set up, but we rarely make it past platform 10 because so many meteors drop.
If it is really that easy then we should ask the question… why force us to play content we don’t like once every 28 years? Why not skip that too and let us mine it? If I want my dailies I go play WoW ![]()
I don’t like to schedule my life around my play time, playing is for wasting time and when I feel like it. That’s also the reason I don’t like these organized raids in theme parks.
Impressive breakdown thanks for using my hunt as an example. Blimey 28years that’s a long time ![]()
I have stated this before in this post but will reiterate again. Oort amounts from meteors don’t need adjusting at this present time. We get more than enough. Also you don’t need to do group hunts to get these numbers. Solo or just a couple of you can still get decent numbers.
The size of the meteors don’t dictate the amount you get. It doesn’t matter. The bigger meteors only matter on T6 hunts for trophies but even then it still doesn’t really matter.
It is interesting, know anything about LOOT Guild?
