I’m just pinging this theread because it’s exactly part of what I need right now and am tempted to copypasta stuff into the wiki to make a sort of reference with pics — my education in biomes has been delicious, I know it’s not really the same but in the absence of cartography employment learning the biomes tickles my whee and puts a whole new layer into my running manifestable lore ideas. I haven’t started geocaching yet but it’s on my list…
I needed to know THIS biome, thanks! I couldn’t figure out what the Kada I biome was ;D
What is that diagonal pit boime called, I want it I want it I want it
I honestly have no idea. I think that’s what happens when you choose to have no rivers. But I have an entire region of it on my world. You’re free to move in.
a/s/l for your planet again? ince its inmyplanet list i do try and make rounds, like i try and give my meager two feet of footfall to anyone with a local port off an active tigg’s stop (i should do all of them in anticipation of coming out of oortsterity, but that would take me back out of this mode where I’m having more fun & skills are improving
I don’t think that is a biome, I think that is a cave option that is selectable now (was not at the beginning of sovs).
My Sov is #486, so I think it may have been selected by accident?
the early Sovs did not have a choice on caves, it was just random, so yeah. Sovs created now do have choices for what caves they want (or don’t want).
Ok, I’ll try to figure out which cave thingie it is; it didn’t think I saw it while picking out stuff for a T3 but when I re-roll it I’ll look again. They’re diagonal shafts, less than a plot in diameter, four sided but soft corners for the cross-section of the tunnel shape. If I don’t get it next roll I can roll again.
And yeah the shafts I’ve heard of existing on planets so far have all been from before caves were selectable. Maybe they aren’t on the menu?
I think they are the level 7 Pillar Caves which might only be selectable on T3 or T4 (most likely) or higher worlds… not 10% sure though.
Just checked, they are only available as a selection on T5+ worlds.
I’ve only seen them on a T3 and those look vertical. Thanks though! I’m dinking around in World Builder hoping to find them too. <3
I wish we had a way of looking up the biomes that went into a planet :). Yours is.a T6?
Could these be cube caves? Still no idea how to get gleam in them…
I actually tried to replicate Kada I’s gleam fields using “Cube Caves” + “Sheltered Lakes”, as combining small caves that open up to the surface plus that particular biome seemed like it might be the way to ensure Gleam Spike success. “Cube Caves” created a web of interconnected blocks that went all the way down to the water below the planet’s surface. You can get TONS of gleam spikes with this cave/biome combination, but it can be difficult (and dangerous) to travel in some areas because of how deep the caves are. They’re definitely not the same type that appear on Kada I, unfortunately.
This video was recorded on a T2 Lush planet that I created for my Gleam Spike test. The “Sheltered Lakes” area was loaded with spikes from the tops of the hills all the way down to the watery depths:
It’s possible that the holes/small round caves in that biome on Kada I might be made up of a combination of biomes/caves that can’t currently be selected as options on a Sovereign T2. Parts of the areas shown in my earlier pictures gave me the impression that they might have a dash of “Regular Pools” (a biome that you can see along many of the coasts on maps of Kada I) in them, combined with a different cave system that features tiny round caves. The caves that exist there are kind of like vertical lines of small/medium-sized bubbles that go from the surface all the way to the bottom of the planet: If you stand in the center of one of the exposed areas and hammer downward, you will fall into a round cave…hammer into the center of that cave, and you will soon find another below it, etc.
If I’m remembering the form correctly, I thiiink there may have been a cave system similar to Kada I’s available for the biomes in the same group as “Sheltered Lakes” on higher-tier Sovereign planets (it’s been a little bit since I ordered one, so I may be wrong). The caves that you select may effect more zones on a higher-tier planet due to how many other biomes you would have to choose, though, so you might have to deal with pits covering a larger portion of your planet than is desirable.
Anyhow, I hope that that was at least somewhat helpful. If rolling planets were something that I could do for free, I’d have multiple universes by now…it’s just too much fun experimenting with all of the combinations!
The Kada I caves aren’t on a grid, they’re offset by half each way, I found that hammering into a corner makes a path to the corner of another similar space. Sheltered Lakes brings in the gleam? That’s good to know! Imma keep experimenting & see what happens
Oh holy cow I watched the video, that was scrumptious.
The ones on Kada are a custom job by the devs AFAIK.
I wish they’d add a “gleam crystals” biome.
I’m fairly sure that Gloviathosa has the same cave system, filled with the same gleam formations as what you guys are discussing on Kada I, in several places.
It also has those caves under ice fields and some other terrain and a few of the spiky gleam formations with rock in them. But mostly in the gleam fields, it’s like a pink/orange version of Kada.
omg i made a really demented t4 deathtrap, but i did get the pretty pure gleam spikes in gauzy deadly rock formatins! :D. I’m learning through trial and error how to get where I’m trying to go with the other planet while I’m too emotionally attached to planet BASH to reroll it. I put a local portal to it at the Tigg’s Tunnels stop on Circ, it’s called 23 Boootetts or something like that. There’s a local portal to the Tunnels near the Balam Gardens portal in the TNT hub on Circ. I’ll be running back and forth through that a lot today coz I have some serious gathering work to do :D. This new crazy planet I made has gobs of resources I want but it’s just deadly, maybe it’s the game telling me to hurry up with the grappling skills OR DIEZ0R LOTS. I did a half-butt job on the colors, and this planet will definitely be rerolled in a month b/c it’s sooooo close to what I was after, but wow the Moat Mounds came out bizarre too… and yet again my Lantern fields or whatever are like two lanterns standing in shallow water and that’s it. I made a T5 too a couple of weeks ago because I want mondo glowing lamella to gather but it’s kind of topographically bleh too. That one has a local portal from TNT Serp I think… not labelled but the planet name is Soleimani. And… this got addictive… a T3 has a local portal off Tigg’s Tunnels on Ceph too.
@Lasharana is replying just wanted to let everyone know for fun.
