What do I need to survive T3?

I spent some time on G. Te and got it handed to me. I have the skill that triples hp and have put a level into shields. I also boosted a couple stats.

I don’t want to waste too many points on combat since my primary goal is building, but I need better resources.

ehh shield really isnt needed on gatherers imho, bigger hp+iron slingshot is more then enough,my gatherer has 6-7k hp and iron slingbow and survive just fine as long as you dont pick fights with T2 meteors (can be done but ehhh better safe then sorry)

the x3 damage skill with 5 points into kinetic armor is amazing for leveling. Can solo level 3 meteors on a t3 world (at least with iron fist). x3 hp is ok but your leveling will be slower overall without the x3 damage. I also would strongly recommend 8/8 vitality and 8/8 power just in terms of survivability and utility.

I guess I need to sink some points. I hit this red, regular wildbeast with my iron fist and took maybe 1/6 of his life off. Ibhad to swim into the water then shoot him from above…until one of them cuttle things killed me as I tried to escape.

it would be really nice if the homing bullets from the cuttle trunks homed just a little bit and weren’t a guaranteed insta-kill. every time a cuttle trunk starts that 3-shot homing attack I throw my hands up in the air, wait for all the shots, and wait for the slow zoom out before I’m allowed to start holding the right mouse button to return me to sanctum.

I can survive everything else just fine. This one attack seems a bit OP to me. (to be clear I mean on T3 planets)

I think that attack is ridiculous. It deals more damage than the normal blasts, homes, and has such blast radius that hiding behind a large boulder doesn’t help.

It’s like combining its other attacks, buffing the damage and giving it homing, really BS.

Armour skills. Really. Armour skills. And not just 1 point, On a level 3 world if you have 5 points in each armour skill, you’ll be pretty much unhittable by anything.

Spam down a couple of blocks and move to a safe distance behind it to negate the attack

it’s a good idea I know, but I dont have dex either on my gatherer :(. He’s more of a miner. I can use my hunter but he wacks plants slower (he’s tank not DPS).

I guess what I’m saying is that all the other attacks seem consistent with eachother. It’s certainly possible to deal with this attack, but I feel like it should somehow be brought more in-line with the other attacks that mobs do on T3 planets.

I’ll have to do that when I get home.

Biv, I’ve just made a new thread that has some more tips for you, sorted by creature type. Feel free to give it a read if you’d like!

A fine suggestion, but the blast radius is more than generous on that attack.

And if you compare it to everything else you encounter in the game, this one attack from cuttletrunks is way more dangerous than anything else.

Hoppers can easily be avoided.

Spitters attacks can reasonably be evaded.

Wildstock can be dodged and abused by terrain or grappling.

Any of these can be outrun.

Cuttletrunks cannot be evaded by terrain, cannot be outrun without loads of agility, and cannot be survived without very quickly building a large fort to hide inside.

I don’t worry about armor/resistance skills for anything but cuttletrunks

On a Tier 3 planet, I kill a stout cuttletrunk in 3 hits. If I don’t miss, I can kill it before it gets a single attack off.

You need 8/8 power, 4/5 all attribute, 1/1 3x damage epic, iron bow.

Health epic doesn’t do much if you don’t have points in health.

And having extra health is meaningless if you can’t do enough damage.

I can solo a level 2 meteor with 3/8 health, 8/8 power, 4/5 all attribute, 1/1 3x damage epic and an iron bow. If I play strategically, I can solo a level 3 meteor but it’s tough.

How do you know what level a meteor is?

What do you get from them?

it tells you when you approach the meteor, they only spawn on T3+ worlds (giant ball falling from the sky)

That literally says nothing  A level 2 meteor on what planet? Because it really matters whether it’s on a level 3 planet or on a level 5 planet. lol
