Is there anything specific that is keeping anyone away from Boundless, or are people more on the boat of just wanting some sign of development? Are there any of you who feel the new level system and swords and shields would be enough to get you back into the game, or would a small update of say a hoverboard or some pants be enough to show someone cares…
My views are highly convoluted and tied up with me thinking I have programmed some work for the game with my mind, so wondering what people less confused than me are feeling.
I want the new consolidated character sheet the most. That being said, finishing the last 3 “animals” (rock basher, hunter and Titan) the “lost” 429 update and actually changing the numbers on the birthday planet.
I want 10,000% more communication. They lowered the price 50% on Steam and I only discovered this by accident. ADVERTISE THIS!!! WE NEED NEW PLAYERS!!!
The game is fine for me, the blows the community has to endure got frustrating and stepping out to blow steam in another game sort of took over. Fortunately there’s nothing like Boundless and not finding all I want in any other game that runs on mac might force me to start a band or something.
Any update that provides any new features or QoL fixes and is beyond “we’re keeping the lights on while the playerbase slowly dies and, no, we’re not going to bother marketing this game at all so go pound sand”.
Chisel capabilities . New chisels with options to offset or center chiseled blocks . The ability to spray paint only a partial blocks . Like just the edge of a block or middle ,similar to chisel capability . Definitely more creatures . Hunt’s initiated by the game announced through chat with greater oort output.ie. a hunt is about to begin a level 10 meteorite has been seen over cephonex, at least 10 players in one area are needed to trigger … Something that brings people together and gets everybody running excited… and how about some moving blocks conveyor belt style so we may be able to place items on a moving table . Now if you could have all this done by tomorrow that’d be perfect .thannnnkss
Speculation based on the fact that the address listed as Monumental’s HQ was sold back in June and that there may be/may have been forfeiture vs. Monumental (basically means franchise taxes weren’t payed, or were payed “quite late” ) ((I have not been able to verify the alleged forfeiture)).
Per Tiggs: “The HQ you’re referring to was actually someone’s home that was rented and used as an office. The company has been work from home since covid and it was no longer being used. We are located in Texas and can operate here.” (on the Discord)
Anything that brought more players in and retained higher player numbers. I miss the days when there were dozens of players on each planet and there was always someone to say high to.
Personally if I could have anything in-game it would be the ability to fly within your own beacons space for easier building, maybe even a new guild machine to activate?
I’m not techy so I don’t know if this is something they are able to do.
Boundless? No, this game isn’t for me… And here I am, 5000 hours later, a little Frenchy who has overcome his shyness and anti-socialism. You’ll understand why the day boundless leaves, part of me will too.
I’m not hoping for an update, because deep down I know it won’t happen, more players? I’d love to!
And if I were to wake up tomorrow and find my game stuck on a connection error message, allow me to thank you all for your kindness and for welcoming me.
Boundless is incredible and has huge potential, so a price cut is a good idea, but without an advertising campaign behind it, I’m afraid it’s pointless.
They have no interest in advertising the game still needs a good amount of love to things like the new player experience, for example. And that would require actually, you know, updating the game which would require, you know, developers which, in turn, requires actual money.
Monumental has made it painfully obvious they are here to keep the lights on and will keep the game running and the automated events firing as long as they possibly can afford it but, given the fact the playerbase is practically non-existant and continues to gradually decline day by day, I don’t expect that time to be too far out.
You can quote me on this:
**If Monumental still has not updated the game in any meaningful way by the end of summer, 2025, they will either sell the game to someone else or simply turn the game off permanentaly and walk away. **
Monumental’s strategy, per Monty, is to buy up lots of games that either missed their market and have good bones or that they simply really like and think they could turn around with some investment.
Monumental currently owns 5-10 PC games including Boundless and about 40 mobile games.
Monumental did hire a bunch of folks over the last few years but have since laid off a significant chunk of them.
Monumental allegedly (per Monty) has very deep financial pockets even in 2024.
Monumental has recently shown some interest in incorporating blockchain and possibly NFTs into their games but details are minimal there.
The aforementioned layoffs included the Director overseeing engineering for both Crowfall and Boundless.
Monumental’s website still does not list Boundless or many, many other games they own.
Monty went on record he considers the website to be primarily a recruitment tool but it currently (and for quite some time) has zero job openings.
Monumental is clearly playing the long game here and may not do anything meaningful with ANY of their games for several years. For Boundless specifically and given the fact they are keeping it online and this incur server costs, things don’t look good.
