or something like a blacksmith
or open source it so the player base can carry it forward
How can the player base carry it forward? Somebody still needs to pay for the servers. Thatās the only advantage Minecraft has - it relies on the player to establish and maintain the worlds. If the server fails, the game lives on - somebody makes another server etc.
Kind regards,
The NPE was amazing for me, a year into playing I was still seeing things Iād never seen before. Forging was a big exception for me b/c the philosophy of the design has to be guessed at and the tutorial doesnāt start with how to do what itās asking you to do.
Rhyzom managed it; I donāt know the details.
Iād have a little idea about that,
-the sanctuary would serve as a central hub, located in the center like circapous
-players who rent planets will be able to open portals directly via the sanctuary, enabling other players to visit Sovereign planets.
-If the owner of a sovereign planet has set it to private status, he wonāt be able to open a portal on the hub.
- Exos will be accessible via the Sanctuary Warp.
-To keep server costs down, this would mean that permanent worlds would disappear (which could drive away all current players), and not everyone would be able to afford to rent a Sovereign planet. Keeping a permanent world of each tier where everyone can build, but with a limited number of plots, could solve part of the problem.
- Each owner is free to allow other players to build or not on their planets, with the possibility of everyone contributing to the planetās fuel.
-Last but not least, Blueprint can be set up during a reclaim or if the beacon(s) have gone out for lack of fuel.
The problem is very simple:
- MMO with no subscription
There canāt be such thing. Servers cost money. Relying on GleamClub or decorative items, is not financially secure.
Kind regards,
With all due respect, F2P models for MMOs have been around a long time and in many cases have been wildly successful. Iām not advocating for F2P for Boundless as it definitely comes with both pros and cons but saying āMMO with no subscriptionā canāt be a thing is quite incorrect.
More publicity for the game to make it more popular. The vast majority of players have never heard of Boundless
100% this for me. Quite literally ANY sign of new life would bring me back immediately.
I would pare it down to 15 permanent worlds. 3 for Australia (tier 1, 3, 5), six for EU central (tier 1-6), and six for the US (tier 1-6, combining US East/West into one region).
To avoid a conflict on which worlds to keep, it would probably be better to generate 15 new worlds.
As for limiting plot use, you do know that each permanent planet has room for 10,616,832 plots? I donāt think thereās a chance of running out of room.
Are those plots surface plots numbers or mantle to ceiling and surface? Remeber you cannot plot above or below anyone elseās plots.
IDK, maybe AN update. This decade?
Thatās the total number of plots for the entire planet. If you were to cover the entire surface of a permanent world, it would take over 10 million plots.
I thought the planets are 4608x4608, and plots are 8x8.
Hence, covering the planet = 576x576= 331776 plots (surface, you canāt plot on top of another plot)
Kind regards,
Of course, there are 10616832 plots in total in the volume of the planet, but player-wise, only 331776 surface plots would reserve the entire planet.
Kind regards,
Iām just going by what the Devs posted. Feel free to argue with them.
Well yeah, surface plots. Still 331,776 is still enough surface plots.
This is what I would want to happen, since I too have kept my settlement in Maintenance Mode since development went into it.
The main āproblemā for me, is that I donāt really want to spend my time on something, that as far as I can trust, may shut off tomorrow without a warning of any kind.
Might be pessimistic, sure, but I already struggle with limited effort for things due to ADHD/Autism complicating my personal situation enough as-is. I have little energy for things, so Iād prefer using it on something I know wonāt suddenly be taken away, etc.
