What would entice players to still Play?

I love the idea of feeding them to keep them alive.
This would allow emergent gameplay of people being pet sitters where they come by and feed the animals to keep them alive while someone is away on vacation.

or a way to be a temporary animal plot so players can rent a pet hotel for the time they are on vacation.

i need animal husbandry.

I remember the days of the pet shop and it was awesome. Even had my own pets! we need that again.
