The funny (totally not funny!) part is that you inherited the mall because legend was fed up because James refused to remove a totally obvious troll who blocked the malls extension.
And they are still going…
We had a troll plotter In aqua embassy in beckon It was literal spagetti. We got dev To look At it but they said nothing… It was around 1.5y later they said “ye ofc we are removing these” just too little too late.
Its really odd how some get away with it and some just gonna siffer from it. Opinions changing etc. No clear guideline.
Anyways. It happens… I think theyll see the player numbers going Down and Down… So they can just start eliminating People like this… People leaving - > shut Down is better than shut Down if you cannot say why you are shutting it Down. I mean i bet they are In debts. All that sony money alrdy goner.
@HOST would be a good one and yes I am trying to make him rich but seriously he would take care of it
I would think the no warning part is likely to do with this…
I doubt there would have been any way to fix that by adding more beacons to fill the gaps (unless you extended the road beacons to do it)… it would still be classed as circumventing the system. It likely makes it worse that the beacons in question are as old as you say and still not adhering to the compactness requirements.
DK mall has been pretty much only mall I use since item discovery/tracking did get to game.
Seems like Legendville problems didn’t end
To help out here and to answer some of your questions and comment:
Nothing will happen to the mall as it currently sits this only affected a new expansion that was being built. @DKPuncherello has mentioned finding new owners for the mall and I know there are many of us that would take this on as the mall is a true part of our universe.
The griefer that is causing issues in DK Mall is also in numerous other malls with numerous plots. I have caught the person in game a few times and tried to have a conversation with the person in an effort to get the griefing to stop. The person simply gave me a “LOL” and some choice words and went on claiming more plots.
No warning at all is just silly. I am sure it is very well possible @james had no idea that the plots were part of one of the largest and most popular and iconic areas in the game, but still reclaiming anything that large feels like a warning or notification is warranted here.
Surely, DK filling in the gaps with shop-shaped beacons can’t be any different from actual shops filling in the space with shop-shaped beacons? Especially knowing that nature reserves exist and are, so far, completely allowed.
As far as I can tell, the compactness system doesn’t care if there is something built in the space, just if gaps are left with the intention of reserving the space without spending the plots.
Does this mean the griefer still has a bunch of griefy little squares plotted out on Tana VII? Breaking the promise about talking to someone before yanking their plots is not a cheery precedent. New players don’t know what to complain about yet ;D (I’m griping and probably shouldn’t be trying to make it make sense with minimal grok and while dissapointed)
This makes me sad
Hope you haven’t taken it too hard DK, we love you!
I don’t know all of the ins and outs, but it sure sounds unfair to me…
What a ■■■■, I hope no meteors fall on them or wildstock butt them over a cliff into the void. That would be terrible, monstrous, even. I freaking detest people who get their jokkies injecting PVP shittiness into a great PVE situation.
I’m not usually negative, but I’m pretty certain the devs know who DK is and all about the mall. He’s one of the players who always brought the community together, including devs as judges in competitions etc… it makes me sad that they would do this (to anyone might I add) without a fair warning and reasoning.
It is against the rules for a single player to use multiple beacons to circumvent the compactness rule. I think the correct way of doing it would have been to expand his existing beacons to fill in the gaps.
This was clearly explained when the compactness system was introduced into game
unbelievable
Just to clarify this situation, in my eyes @james did the right thing here in removing the beacons. What I do feel was poorly handled was not communicating the concern better and giving options on how to correct this … if it was correctable at all. It was obviously a very large project and a huge pillar of the community and not someone randomly trying to circumvent the system. Any mall in the end just benefits the community and that community is what makes this game so great.
I personally understand the frustration @DKPuncherello has. A simple bit of communication goes a long way and in this case could have prevented a long-term player and contributor from leaving.
I feel sorry for mall owners. There is just no easy way to do it. Have us being able to claim our own plots in the mall is so convenient and hands off. And yet, it allows griefers and, I guess, an issue with compactness. Pity a solution couldn’t have been found for these mall cases.

This. Really sorry to hear it DK. Don’t blame you for wanting to quit at all. Will miss you.
Elly
Without looking at it in-game, I’m guessing the unused, outer roads were the parts that were removed (since it sounds like there were numerous connected beacons to get around the system).
I assume the actual mall part with shops was left as it is? And everything would carry on as it has for shopkeepers and shoppers?
Yes… the main mall is intact.
Good luck man, Sorry this happened to you
