Why?! Please read

Unfortunately I believe you failed to get the premise of my post. A wishlist would be helpful because it would give everyone an opportunity to post something they ‘dreamed’ was in Oort These should be specific and not follow under 1 “big brother” category. What would be the point? One would have to filter through hundreds of post.

Please read through some of suggestions and tell me there is not a noticeable separation between the following two suggestions: First, the lighting four torches should be greater than its is. Second we should have jetpacks.

Am i the only one who can appreciate the irony in creating a duplicate thread about how we should stop making duplicate threads? xD

Im all seriousness, in your topic i reckon we should just have 1 single post called suggestions, then EVERYTHING would go into that? would that be better?

there are things that counts as offtopic, and there might be a few threads, but its a way to see people perspective to it, if it the exact same then you can link the previous topic. as mentioned in my magic thread we talked about getting tainted with an element the more you use it, adding buffs/debuffs etc. im considering making a topic about it, there are different magic topics because people have different ideas on how magic should be.

as a last note, who are to decide what is important? that is kinda tricky isnt it  ? if you think it is important then necro them or come with something good for the posts, if something really good pops up we usually summon the devs, if we dont then its usually because its not such a good idea in the end.

PS: i reckon you tried to write ‘‘Solve’’ multiple times in the main post. just not sure. for solving nonexistant problems, when would you rather discuss it, now before it happens or when you are standing in the middle of it?

100% against this. If someone feels they have a related, but different idea, and they want to make a new topic about it, that is their right to do so. That is exactly how ideas mature.

Edit: Which, by the way, is exactly what the newest pet thread is - a related, but completely different idea.

@DarkRepulsor Agreed. I have at least two or three threads that do this and simply need their own space, so these are understandable.

@Zouls I wasn’t going to mention anything about you specifically, but since you’re going to come in with a detectable aggression in your attitude, I’ll just mention that you are indeed part of the problem that caused both this and the “Keeping Things Simple” thread to arise. I recommend remaining out of these discussions.

Jack >_< leave Zouls alone. He has strong opinions and a blunt way of speaking, but he has as much right to comment as anyone.

Glad the Oort family has had it’s first domestic. :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

Hence why I only recommended. I don’t intend to put anyone down by any kind of force. But an understanding should be met unless misunderstandings, grudges, and what ever else can fester from unspoken minds would come.

As I said in the beginning, I feel this thread itself is doing more harm than good anyhow.

Anybody else see the irony in posting a useless topic complaining about other topics that are useless :smirk:

Well thats a bit over the top ^^ I mean if someone comes up wth an completely new thema then its okay  I only have sometghing against the dublicates.

I can’t, because for now important Toppics are getting poushed down by this dublicates. For example this Threads:

https://forum.oortonline.com/t/wiki-mobilising-a-team/1463
https://forum.oortonline.com/t/wanna-visit-my-boat-q/1531
https://forum.oortonline.com/t/the-creation-of-player-towns/1466
https://forum.oortonline.com/t/united-art-competition/1451
https://forum.oortonline.com/t/wbc-worldbuilder-competition-2-win-7-games/1518

I’m not the one, all I’m saying is it is important for NOW. Not that it’s completely unimportant.

You got it :stuck_out_tongue:

I didn’t saw that, tho. Some of us just speak a little bit harsher in the free and wonderful nature

Noone likes to get talked to like that, but sometimes it just have to be. I already told you why I’m saying it like that. And to be honest, as said, you cant be nice all the time otherwise noting will change, things getting worse.

@Cyanizite

Best comment by far :stuck_out_tongue:

i apologize mate, didnt mean to write ‘‘who are you to decide’’ i wanted to write ‘‘who are to decide’’ that did indeed seem rude.

but i totally understand you, although those topics you linked as important i personally dont find important, there are indeed sometimes too many topics, but for example if you have one about ‘‘pet taming’’ then it might be a bit off topic to start talking about ‘‘flying mounts’’ to a certain extend, so sometimes there needs to be a difference on them.

but thanks for clearing it up, again, i apologize if you found me rude, wasnt intented as such

Edit: oh you meant important as topic that has a certain timelimit? like competitions, it might be considered to making a topic called ‘‘event’’ that is also going to be very needed later on when we want to make community events, such as battles, building projects, etc. @ben would that be possible? that explains why you made the topic, it was just not very clear xD

Thanks @DarkRepulsor luv u <3

@ZeusXVII I see your point, i disagree, but i see it, let me try to sum it up since its rather vague, feel free to correct me if you meant something else.

The idea is that we should split suggestions up into suggestions (for changes ingame) and wishlist (things we want to see)

examples of suggestions would be

‘‘I think the light of torches should be increased’’
‘‘I think x creature should be passive instead of aggresive’’
‘‘I think movement speed should be tweaked to be slightly faster’’

then for wishlist something like

‘‘I would love to see wolves ingame’’
‘‘I think we should have griffins’’
‘‘i think it would be amazing if the devs would add x weapon type’’

There are a difference in those 2 cause they are some of the more far out versions, but the line between the two are often very very blurred. which is why i think splitting them seems unneccesary. So you have a very good point, and it might be something to consider when we start to have alot of features which needs tweaks, but for now i dont think it is neccesary

But why not just post an expansion or modification to an idea in the same thread? Really we have 4 different magic systems suggested in 4 different threads (Something in that direction)

You don’t need to make a new thread to mature an idea, you can also just expand/comment/modify the alread pressented concept.

I have seen this work on multiple forums without damaging the stream of ideas, it actually mostly helped to keep things tidy.

EVERYONE CALM DOWN :open_mouth:

Discourse is designed for lots of threads, the good stuff hangs around at the top, the bad stuff sinks to the bottom. Obviously think first before creating a post, but please don’t waste your time commenting on whether posts should be replies etc. Life is too short, and there’s worlds to build

But keeping threads about the same thing together makes the it easier to create an overlook

Anyway I think it is good it was brought up as it is probably going to help make people more aware of the Search mechanic (Which is often sadly overlooked)

The mighty Serach mechanic!!!

i assume you mean search, i also agree though, you dont even need to click search, when you write a title you get topics that are close to it, sometimes those topic are identical.

the biggest problem is that everybody wants to be heard, but its very hard if you are poster 82 out of 254 in a post, so they just make their own thread.

i think its fine, let people make the subjects, merge is not needed, if it was discussed alot then just link where it was discussed, if it poses another side of the argument then you can discuss it there since it is not the same.

You you really have to be that picky?! Its clear he misspelled it by an accident xD

And thats what bothers me as I said here ^^

Who gives you the right to say an toppic is closed, @DarkRepulsor?!

No one. It was worth a shot though. :stuck_out_tongue: Let’s move on guys!! Onward and upward!

Happy now?

Really the largest topic we have is 265 and that is the beacon request. Also you can easily be seen in a 254 comments big topic there is guys on my other very active forum that read a full 15.000 comments just to get a better understadning of the diplomatic situation in a forum game.
