Sorry. wasnt meant to offend you, you just really confused me cause i thought there was some sort of magic feature i hadn’t seen called ‘‘Serach’’ xD
but for merging, for now its fine, i dont think we should constantly merge everything, maybe when we get more stuff in, you can ask them to make you moderator when the time comes and you can merge all of them.
personally i do also understand it, its a bit of a shame when you have a long written post disappear cause nobody comments on it, and then people make the exact same post. but them again. i guess its a very fine line
Not trying to make your statement sound bad, but rather correcting it, you can’t make things good without appropriately discussing your opinions with others.
We can add categories where there is sufficient traffic. But we can also consider enabling “tags” if we think we need another axis for post categorisation.
ADDITIONAL:
We should decide what solution makes sense, for example:
Categories: Adding subcategories to Creations of Pictures, Videos, and Worlds (as a quick suggestion) might make sense. Because we know that posts often contain Pictures, Videos and Worlds. Also adding FAQ or Bugs to Support?
Tags: Where as, maybe enabling Tags in the Suggestions category would make more sense. Tags could be: combat, weapons, blocks, items, endgame, building, progression, etc.
Mods: Or we rely on a group of mods, level 3 users to keep the place tidy.
Would tags make more sense when there is a diverse grouping of posts, and additional categories when there is a limited and contained set of posts?
Mods are like an double-edged Sword im my opinion. most of them are Good at the beginning but at some point mods are getting way to Serious and you cant do anything. I know that, I was an mod myself and I turned into that monster too xD It’s like an curse of the Moderator o.o
Anyway, Maybe we need mods but yeah… “double-edged Sword”.
When you say Mod do you mean Minecraft mod or actual mod for another game? And when I say mod I mean Moderator because a mod and a moderator are two different things.
Looking at the Discourse link you provided, it seems that people will automatically lose their Level 3 status over time. So one day you could recategorise and rename topics and the next you wouldn’t be able to. To me, it seems more like their equivalent of a Moderator rank would be Level 4 as those are the ones who have the ability to pin and merge topics and are manually appointed
If we have player moderators then I would prefer it if they only had their one account. Another game originally gave mods a separate, moderator account to post from and it got quite messy because some of them used it to hide behind. I think it runs better if everything is out in the open.
I also feel that there should be mods in different timezones to get more coverage throughout the day. So (for example) some in the Americas, some in Europe and some in Australasia.
We would not give out additional accounts, rather bless your current account with the privilege. My preference is that we use the Discourse system - as is - without us working around their promotion scheme.
The current system only goes up to edditing title and category of a topic. After that it is manuel appointment.
You could do what Radiant Entertainment did and appoint a few moderators (2-3 or something) to take care of appropriate mergings, take quick care of forum rule violations and all the other kind of tasks where a developer isn’t really needed.
