In some way, if not all the way. (Maybe the gleam color stays random?)
100%.
100%.
People need the ability to whitelist/revoke access to the worlds they are paying for. There’s no reason for someone to be allowed on the planet at all if they haven’t been granted access. This is the way most games do this (there are several reasons why).
There has to be incentive over just using a regular planet.
Think a little bigger folks. If there were 10,000 people playing this game, there will be plenty of a variety of planets, colors, etc. Allowing people more options & ways to customize things = a good thing. Boundless might even get picked up by some schools, etc.
Only one I can think of is stalkers. But you shouldn’t have to flee to private worlds to avoid stalkers, if that’s an issue the devs should address it (and it is in fact a real issue for someone nice who quit BL over it because the devs did pretty much nothing)
Rental world connected to public universe would destroy exo endgame… cause u can simply buy the colors u Need. I am pretty sure this will never happen. They are for Personal Fun like ur own private minecraft server. Pretty sure…
While I will agree that a tier two planet should not have gems or any other resource that is not a part of the current setup for that planet, based on any conversations I have been involved with, there are no rare block colors or colors that are specifically limited from appearing on a planet. It is random with some tweaks to have the palettes be complimentary. So if you did rent a random planet that could have gleam in the normal universe, then there is a chance it would be black gleam.
Personally, this is what I would like too. Allow everyone to visit, mine, gather, harvest, etc…but they need perms to plot or build. It shouldn’t be all or nothing though. I’m not going to keep paying a monthly fee for some whale to come plot 10,000 plots around my stuff like they can now. I want to be able to set plotting limits or allow plotting in specific areas or something like that.
This would be my vote, and honestly how I assumed it would work.
Maybe a compromise: if you want a blacklist to prevent people from visiting the planet, you’re restricted to current world colors. If you want color choice, anyone has to be able to warp there to farm.
Even still, private worlds just for you would seem unfair for harvesting gems and ore. No chance of running into other people’s mining = saves durability = p2w, albeit paying a lot to win not very much.
Honestly, I think we tend to go towards doom and gloom too much as a community. If someone wants to try to rent a planet with rare colors for a monopoly, I bet two or three others pop up quick that are open to the public lol.
This is how I thought it would be, and how I think it SHOULD be from the start. …
You know, this whole color-scarcity, “My color is rare, I want 2000c or more per BLOCK because it doesn’t exist anywhere” sort of mentality this community has wouldn’t be a thing if certain features would work as they were originally advertised to work, and not be super-limited on what blocks it can be used on. *cough*SPRAYS*cough* … Ahem. …
If I cannot pick the colors then I will not be renting. Why would I pay real money for a planet where I hate the colors? In fact if I got a planet like beckon where it rained 7x24 I would also not be happy. If there is not going to be any control on what a planet looks like color and biome wise, then I unless there is some other reason I cannot think of, I will not be renting a planet.
If I cannot control all access and not just plotting permissions then again, what is the point? Do I really want to have players coming through a portal and constantly tearing up the landscape for the wood or dirt or ash or whatever other blocks might be near my build? Why did I pay for it if other players can trash it?
I cannot fathom that there would not be some control over selecting the tier. But if I could not then I would not rent a planet.
That’s what I want - whatever rented world I pay for to follow the rules. So it gets a palette typical for that tier and type of world (colors are then assigned randomly - still, looking at how this random factor works, the permanent worlds get quite narrow range of colors, as a lot of other colors are reserved for exo worlds and then gleambow allows to get some really rare colors not covered by exo and permanent palettes).
We (namely ya boi Luca) are working on private worlds at the moment. Hopefully should have some announcements at some point “soon”. Excited for you peeps to see what the plan is
