Bomb Mining Nerf, Not all Doom and Gloom

I’m not sure. 40 minutes maybe?

Pies should last an hour, loaves last 40mins.
Cooked meat replenished 500 stamina iirc, prime meat should be a bit more but the significance would depend on supply.

cooked meat is 400, prime meat 500

:scream: damn 2yams keep confusing me. “When you’re beat, eat a meat. For hunger pangs, take 2yams”.

Granny always had such good advice.
(Standard stamina only though)

The thing about this nerf is that it follows multiple other nerfs to game play that players had come up with. I feel like every time I’m about to get in on the fun, in on the progression, the system gets nerfed. I struggled for weeks trying to find enough diamonds to power up my workbench because I hadn’t gotten into bomb mining. I finally collected enough titanium to make some bombs and managed to collect enough diamonds to do two bulk crafts, but not nearly enough for a mass. But I was on the verge of being able to finally jump in and start progressing. Then this nerf all but eliminates my chances, because now bomb mining is out of reach without somehow building a hammer that can aoe.

It just every patch since launch has taken me two steps back for every step I had finally clawed out. Meanwhile, there’s a mass of players that already got to partake in weeks and weeks of collecting resources with bombs operating the way they did. This is straight up letting the rich get rich (I don’t necessarily mean this literally), and the rest of us getting hosed by the nerf. There’s mass group of people that have already benefited and the rest of us don’t get a chance.

This is the kind of change that hurts player progression and frustrates players that are struggling to advance. Specifically to bomb mining, this is even insult to injury in my case because I don’t even want or like to bomb mine - it was simply the ONLY way to gather gems and titanium at an acceptable rate. I’ve stated before I’d much rather go caving - dive deep into the earth through massive, unending cave networks - but the few caves that I do find that go deep enough don’t have any surface resources. It’s either have fun exploring caves and get minimal rewards, or bore through rock with bombs which is boring but rewarding.

I dunno, this nerf… it’s just… I’m super frustrated by it. Not because I wanted to make millions of coins off selling gems, but because I feel like I have no chance now to find enough gems to BUILD MY OWN stuff. After spending a couple hours post-199 trying to find gems and titanium, I came back with so little I just don’t even want to play anymore. It’s demoralizing and frustrating, and why would I want to play a game that makes me sad?

It can still be done, depends if you think 40 gems in 1 hour is good enough.

This has been my main complaint. Instead of makin’ gem/ore findin’ fun, they put most of it in solid rock mountains that require strip mining, but that’s horribly boring unless you can 1-shot the rocks fast, so people bomb mined instead.

That’s exactly it, CW. It’s not fun staring at a wall of stone, digging out a hole, plopping in some bombs and HOPING you might get some gems. If that’s what I have to do to get gems, so be it, but now it’s even worse since the resources are destroyed… thus having to make yet another step in progression to make a tool that can essentially do what that last bomb was doing to begin with. At least, that’s what I’m gathering from posts (bomb a few times, use a forged aoe hammer to clear the nearly broken blocks). That’s another step in progression that I’m behind the eight ball on because I can’t get the gems/metal to power the forge not to mention the resources for forge ingredients. Chicken or the egg here? I’m stuck either way! At least with the way the bomb mining worked before I could work my progression path.

Still, even 1 shoting stone while starting a a rock wall is probably even more boring!

I’m confused as to why this even has to be a thing … Minecraft already set a pattern for exploring caves and abandoned mineshafts for rare/valuable resources. Why can’t we just have something like that in Boundless?

I ask myself this every day as I try to log in to mine my own gems, only to realize i’ll have to strip mine because there’s almost no other alternative, at which point I decide to spend my time elsewhere.

Mining, one of the biggest aspects of any Voxel Sandbox Survival game, is so unimaginably boring in this game I cannot understand why more emphasis wasn’t put on caves.

Cave system like pre-release universe was really good, it was kinda endless cave you could mine for hours.

But the only think that was happening is the more more time you were mining it, less and less ores was aorund the walls because they were respawning inside of it.

I would like to see that coming back. Cardass as some great cave system in the hills. probably the only one planet that can comes to my mind.

This has started to happen on the T3 worlds after I started mostly visitin’ only caves.

Now that the ore is gone from the cave walls there, I’m back to not wanting to ever mine.

I’ve decided to stop mining completely, and hold onto my skill points, in case mining is ever actually made fun again, then I’m sure I’ll need to respec my character.

I’d check that out, but I hate to commit my remaining skill points into grapple and agility, only for bomb mining to be made important again, and there’s the other problem of spitters and cuttles that can 1-shot miners easily…

You can defend yourself with hammer now.

You mean like, miners should run up to cuttletrunks and hit them with hammers?

i have max control i can hit them or pull it with the grapple

I’m curious what your miner’s skills are if you don’t mind takin’ the time to share.

Thank you!

I’m curious how you navigate Alcyon and Cardass without points in grapple. I guess the extra energy allows you to swing the hammer a lot longer.

you dont need point in grapple ever

I am new player. Kinda. Bought game in 2014 but played for few h and decided it needs more polish  I picked it up just before release. And it was love at first sight. So i started playing with all of players at headstart. I dont even own a stall, never bought anything from market. I play alone. I got all crafting stations with 24 adv. coils. I made 1st alt maybe 2 weeks ago. So please dont tell me there is some wall something that wont allow progress. If you ask me i would say it is still too easy. My first diamond coil was obtained with iron hammer. My first advanced coil with titanium hammer. I think it took me around 3-4 hours to get 80 diamonds. And no i dont like mindless grind. I am a builder. But things cannot be too easy. Otyerwise game will be boring. What happens if you make your dream building. There will be emptyness. Its always nice to have some goal in mind. It keeps us going.

My goal is to make a cool Town. It will take agess but then it will keep me here for long time allowing new updates refuel my desire to play. 1 month into game and i am more than happy with my progress.

Alright, I pose this question mainly to the people saying “all is well, use your hammer”, but naturally anyone with an opinion is welcome to answer it (as if i needed to say that lol).

I’m a “freshy”, started with ps4 release. During that time i started bomb mining, and was loving it. I could get resources faster than i could spend it.
This is no longer the case. I am not even talking about gems here. Tbh i could live with how fast/slow gems come now, but what i cannot live with, is the fact that i spend titanium/gold/silver faster than i can produce it.
Even if i spend all my titanium hammers only looking for more titanium/gold/silver, i still little by little dip further and further into my stash of titanium, and eventually i will run out, being forced back on iron tools. Forget using those titanium hammers to look for gems, they will vanish even faster.
This is, imo, completely and utterly broken! Gems are gems, but titanium/gold/silver is ORE, and should NOT be this hard to come by. It’s bread and butter, and should be only slightly more rare than iron.

I see people, every day since the bomb nerf, on serpen, asking what they are doing wrong cause they can’t find titanium, and this is people actually looking in the right spots.

And don’t, please do not tell me the solution is AOE hammers, because when you first start needing titanium, and when you are trying to sustain the use of said titanium tools, you most likely cant make even basic 3x3 AOE hammers, let alone good ones.

I am an old Strip / branch miner from minecraft, so i know how to mine with a 1 block tool, and i know where to look as well, but i am burning through titanium hammers way faster than the titanium is coming in.

So please tell me, what mid game people are suppose to do to sustain the use of titanium tools, when all they have is 1, or at MOST a 3 block hit hammer.

Easy. Get titanium hammer get all mining skill (power, hammer, epic dmg). Go to tier 6 planet(cardass works for me best). Mountains are so huge there that looking for sapphires and topaz you will swim in titanium. And remember that t6 worlds with max luck skill give more ore out of seam. On side note when i think about it seams are bigger there too. Often titanium seam is made out of 4-7 blocks. Where on t5 its 1

Also durability epic helps tons. For more advanced players there is durability food too
