Boundless Multiverse

This may come off harsh/off topic but why are they focusing on Future content when past content isn’t currently working in the game and nobody has addressed this Other than James Commenting on my post 2 weeks ago saying Exoplanets will be fixed soon.

Sure maybe they are working on that and this as well but the past few months just seems like a big push to get people off the main worlds, when the community is begging for more worlds in the game. Not a day goes by where i see at least 5 people ask how to find the current exo world or where are exo worlds.

I believe they are doing both simultaneously.

I’m sure some team members are addressing issues and others on new content.

They will be. Unfortunately the standard definition of soon is somewhat different than wonderstrucks :joy::joy:

After watching this thread for a while I feel the general concensus here is that this is a BAD MOVE. So much promised content with no expected date yet we get this hot garbage of an update that (as MANY have stated) will fragment an already splintered community.

As an alpha backer with ~1900 hours in this game I have tried to bring more people in. I have bought several copies and given them away. Not one of those people still play. The constant complaint from them is a lack of content. I have made excuses for the devs and this game for months on end now, and with an update like this it just shows YOU ARE NOT LISTENING TO US.

I’ll keep building on my two sovereign worlds and watch the universe turn to ash around me I guess.

I am extremely dissappointed, as clearly many others are. This game has so much potential but you devs seem determined to alienate your core community. This is going to backfire on you spectacularly.

PS: You announced the hunter a year and a half ago now? Where tf is that update? Too many unfulfilled promises.

Hell Titans were talked about back in 2017…

And that’s only one thing. Where are the other player races? All the creature content in the roadmap? CLOTHES FFS THAT ISNT EVEN HARD. Come on devs it’s seriously seeming more and more like you could care less what we think. We aren’t asking for anything YOU didn’t promise us. Enough excuses and enough bs updates that only serve to undermine your own game.

Horrible management going on here.

I guess I’m gonna chime in with my disappointment with this update also.

I recently came back after 6-8 months out. The sovereign worlds did not interest me, but I can see the use and have been mining on planets where people are kind enough to allow. However, I could happily of done without that update.

I thought that the next update would somehow improve the actual gameplay, rather than just another way to show off the game engine to prospective buyers.

Minecraft kinda worked with a single player offline as there was at least some sort of target to aim towards (ender dragon, etc), but Boundless does not have that yet, so an offline version seems to have no purpose.

Surely it would have been better to alternate the last update with one with that actually improves the gameplay itself this time?

This also worries me, as we know how long the last update took, and we didn’t get a warning about that one…

It has sapped my motivation again, @SamF can we get any confirmation about things like automation, titans, hunter, furniture, etc, which may get some of us to hang on a bit longer?

Interesting to see what this brings. Sounds like that could be the place for building dungeons with added mods?
Will PS5 be able to run these new features? I really hope the things coming along side this is those swords and shields and all that stuff too. Then all would be right in the worlds. :raised_hands:

Thx for the update .

As everything there are pro’s and con’s to this but i see most already are mentioned by other Oortians.

That said i do see a benefit to add “offline” universes…
Also i hoop when this is “out of the way” actual game content (quality of life is fine to like hunting overhaul or what evsss ) is next in line…

not complaining just saying little sprinkles of content is nice and all but i would like to see some more

Hate to add to the pile of negativity but this doesn’t sit right with me.

The game’s players already feel spread thin as it is. Not sure who would be buying multiverses but haven’t had any of my friends say they are interested in one. Majority of the time I can visit a planet with 0 other players on it. Adding more exciting content would bring players.

I have been really missing exo planets. Disappointed that we are thinking of a big update before fixing those.

I think this is cool, though I agree too soon after rental worlds. May not end up renting the creative world I was planning after completing some builds for people.

I’m more disappointed with the comments :disappointed_relieved: why aren’t more people pumped for modding? I figured 70 comments deep there would already be teams of creators coming together to make me something cool

Regardless of how anyone thinks this will affect the official universe, I still see this update as an overdue essential feature. Just like Sovereigns. A 100% online game that can be played offline but has no option too should never be “okay” with players. Finally adding this as well as Sovereigns speaks quite a bit to the devs interest in putting what is best for the players first, not is what is best for their “official” universe for the game.

This update will have zero effect on people that truly believe that the official universe and the MMO aspect of the game is essential. Look at ARK, it does just fine with an official network and a player hosted servers/clusters. This will speak tons to players who want to freedom to play offline/single player/in a private universe though and will overhaul raise more total players to the game which I am excited for.

The main draw for this game will likely always be the official Universe, but that does not mean we should ever strip the right from everyone else to play in their own if it is feasible.

I would pay whatever I could for a Reaperverse with modded dungeons and puzzles and all, and skins, blocks, ect. that you create!! :+1:

Can the private ones also tweak their own COC? Haha, couldn’t help think about that with the humor potential of a Reaperverse too… :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

All the content and features that we were told that would come to the game, since the first announcement trailer back when it was called Oort Online,is kinda what I was hoping to see after such a long period of silence in terms of playable content updates. Like I understand flushing out the framework of the game, but it doesn’t fix the issue of it missing so much.

I understand the reason for this update to branch out to more players, to get them interested in the game, and giving people their own bubble to play in if they don’t want the online aspect, but that doesn’t fix the issue of it being devoided of the content we were told would be in the game one day. The announcement trailer is six years old now…

One thing I still wish was in the game from way back, was Oort stone could be dug up in the ground before the Meteor update, I still don’t get why we don’t have it available through hunting and mining. Especially with the assets of rough oortstone vein blocks being in the game files and accessible through testing. I mean even the announcement trailer says we should be able to find it in the ground.

You summed my exact thoughts @Rydralain, this update isn’t for me either which is fine I don’t have to like every aspect of the game to enjoy it, but I am just sitting back wishing the priority of such kind of updates were handled better.

I think they should find a way to keep the ability to travel to private universes from the live one. similar to how creative worlds work.

Anyone with any technical knowledge can see that portals are the server connection/handshake so its not too far of a stretch to come up with a special portal that allows you to visit a planet in a private universe instead of having to go to one from the client.

I think this would actually be the bridge minecraft doesnt have that makes the live mmo universe feel connected to all the private shards that will exist. that would really take boundless to the next level over minecraft once modding becomes a thing.

Agreed. There are tons of people out there who simply don’t want to take part in the mmo. Best of all, this won’t require fuel! So many players have quit the game entirely because they’d prefer to be able to take a long break here and there.

Sure they won’t boost the live universe, but quitting the game forever isn’t helping us either.

That is actually a really neat idea and I would love to see that implemented some way. Crowd source the universe. That could also be a great way to have “experiments” that if they get popular enough be brought into the official universe. Like tweaking resource drop rates player created blocks, mods, etc.

This would also allow them a place to collect themselves and experiment with builds vefore they are ready to return to the live planets.
