I always figured the “racing” part would start once you arrived at the meteor, not that you would miss the gleambow completely or arrive with 7 seconds left.
I didn’t do Gleambow last year or this year because I know how I get with frustrating events lol, I used to be a far more hardcore gamer until I learned what I don’t like in video games.
But do I want the event changed for me…? No - some people enjoy it, and that’s great! Could the event be more enjoyable or user friendly? Definitely.
in my opinion the gleambow should always be there or at least have gleambow more often than once a year… more fun and more intriguing than the exo for me. But it is true that it is sometimes difficult to find the gleambow because of some visual bug even if I succeed in most cases
I love this event. I’ve been frustrated by visibility atmosphere and weather, stuck on trees, out-raced, killed by falling, lava, had some @#$% drop a bunch of garbage so it’d fill up my inventory and they stole my blocks. I still love it. I’ve also had 6 in a row be mud or growth or another lame type. I can’t stop, I’m addicted.
Would like to see something to encourage groups. I know, bigger meteors but that only helps the fastest few. It’s been said before but just add gleam to the loot box.
Would also like to have the auto pickup turned off when someone does an inventory dump in the meteor zone. Such a dirty move to overload someone with trash while vacuuming up all their blocks.
I like gleambow … and in gleambows I find colors that are to my taste even if it is smaller than the exo. If that would be my decision, I would always leave active gleambow
Today was way better. I did a run on a t6 with large oceans and I didn’t miss any meteor. Well maybe a couple for running across regions and having to chose between multiple metors
You could always protect your inventory by making stacks with 1 gleam, and 1 of whatever other material you’re collecting… to make yourself trash-proof.
I think they seriously tweaked the timers. I just got 4 gleambows in a row on a T5. Now instead of being tense…I am
I had to swim across the ocean to get to them also
Edit to add…hmmm…went to a T3 and the timer is it’s normal short self. Weird.
Right but if it can be tweaked then no one has to “protect themselves”. Would also have to start a session with roughly 24 stacks of one item each cutting down amount you can carry. Not a big deal on a permanent planet but a big nope on an exo. Meteor zones already have special rules, figured this could help out.
Myself and a few trusted friends hunt together and we make sure everyone gets some loot. Even the person who is way behind, we wait for them to get there b4 we move on.
I tried hunting on mkrib earlier today and “night time” I couldn’t see and fell in every hole pulled out my glow totem and still couldn’t because of fog effect in game. Couldn’t do anything because I was blind either way. I’m wearing gleambow Brett hart glasses I should be able to see no matter what
This here too - I’m on Xortis now and had one land so far away I thought for a second about not trying… and got there with over two minutes left. And it was a pretty gleam one too!!
So far I’ve had no problems with the timers or landscape rendering its more to do with 8 out 8 meteors all being non gleam. For something that’s advertised as a gleambow event I would of thought the RNG wouldn’t be so biased. I’m really struggling to find the motivation to try any more with such a poor chance of actually getting a meteor made of gleam. The last gleambow event I struggled more to complete them in time but I still ended up with way more gleam than I am now.
The timers adjust themselves automatically depending on the success, reaches but failed, and untouched ratios.
What you’re experiencing is the timers adjusting depending on this alone.
The timers adjust manually to take into account the variation and challenge of the landscapes. Hunting on a flat world will end up with shorter timers than on a island-lava world. But maybe the lava world is then easier??
The event is extremely sandboxy - IMO. Vary your tactics. Vary your location. Sometimes it’ll be hard, but sometimes it’ll be easy. Easy will then become hard. So try something different then. The event rewards adapting and of course speed.
