Happy 1 month anniversary, footfall being broken!

This would be an awesome weekly quest! Game picks a random settlement in the top 10 on a random planet and rewards you for visiting. All the foot traffic to that place that week gives ppl an incentive to build there! Pick two of them for a quest each, one t1-t3 and another t4+.

Footfall doesn’t have to be boring. It could be a truly random settlement, or the devs could pick one they like. There are a lot of cool places out there.

@james: You are ignoring current specific player feedback from many players and listening to old general feedback instead. Mostly everyone will be very happy with an immediate fix to footfall today followed by a proper balance pass later.

But why speculate when we can ask. Edit: moving poll to its own thread.

I can no longer afford to buy rock because all the request baskets for the things I collect are empty. I can’t build anything I want anymore because I can’t afford the things I need to build it.

I know right? I just want to get back to playing the game. I want Week 1 back.

Pretty sure i have alrdy seen it couple of times, that devs didnt change anything on footfall since several month.

So did u ever consider u get less footfall cause less player run around?
A lot of ppl bought this game eA or just as it started, played for a few weeks and left cause of any reason.
And we had replacement of Ultima Portals wich made loss on traffic too…
And some ppl aint walk around all day visiting every store and shop etc.

Idk a lot of Crying over Coins u aint really need.
U can build up everything on your own.

And if people would start to specialize what they buy / sell it would work way better.
Its like ur going into a mall and have 20 bakerys shop on shop… would u go into every ■■■■■■■ bakery?
guess not.

What would the players be saying if warping from Sanctuary broke a month ago and still wasn’t fixed? You can’t just leave such a major part of the game broken. Sure, it’s being looked at but with no in-game results whatsoever going on 30+ days.

The argument that it was always broken is invalid because footfall worked fine for the first couple weeks thanks to daily server crashes and resets. Just because it was coded incorrectly doesn’t mean we weren’t getting footfall daily.

It is understandable that we don’t want an overinflated and broken economy and that we want to fix it right, but at least give us a band-aid while you attempt to solve the Drake equation.

Nah lol week 1 was lit! I could walk through town and sell everything in my inventory - blood, meat, bone, hide, fiber leaves, beans, iron, cooper, silver, gold…

Hi @james,

Here’s how the community voted in the past 16 hours:

Many of the no’s would prefer an immediate but less averse correction (with quite a few stating once every 3 days) - but it also clearly indicates that this is quite a contentious topic.

So then at this point the Electoral Colleges take over and we win with 46% of the vote!

That’s simply not true. Just because you are not good at hunting doesn’t mean others can’t be good at hunting.

I’m quite successful solo hunting T6 with self made self forged gear. My highest character is 39.

Just because you can’t do something doesn’t make it not true.

I suck at hunting t6 too.

I just started hunting this week. Went straight to t6 and found it suprisingly easy actually. Even solo’d a meteor (just t1) cause it almost landed on me and i figured ‘while im here’…

I would prefer this. Earning for playing rather than free coin would be the way forward.

Why do several players have such a huge problem with giving the people who build the things you use everyday some reward for it? It’s not free - if you build something nobody visits you get nothing for it - it is a reward for usage. If you want to boycott them build your own portal hubs and roads and stop using theirs - the game doesn’t have to change rules.

I like building things and getting a little reward each time someone visits - it makes it feel more useful to the community.

This is how it should be - you play , you earn.

You sit on your a** staring out the window waiting for someone to run past = earn Zero

I would love this type of system. Rather than simply randomly hunting / mining you have an actual goal to aim for.

Scrap footfall is the easy fix and bring in daily small quests and weekly /monthly big quests

I think the portal hubs are an exception. They do provide a service and maybe they should get “footfall” for every player that goes through a portal they own. Portals require fueling and I think the networks are important enough to the community, that there needs to be a reasonable way for the players running the networks to acquire the fuel without having to hunt every day.

I think a shop is not a service. The shop owners should be making a profit off of what they sell and not making coin from people visiting to find empty stands in my opinion. As to roads, so just because I was lucky enough to build a road around a portal hub, that is providing a service? We are able to walk on the ground and on roads, so what service is actually being provided that the person laying the road should get income? And it is income that requires no more effort from the player than gathering 10 leaves and making beacon fuel each month.

I agree that building things does deserve some reward, but why does a road deserve more reward/footfall than a 1 million prestige build out away from the portal hubs? I feel like you are rewarding location and not the build. I have some plots near a portal hub on one planet and even though I have minimal prestige, I do get footfall (I built steps down from the portal hub, which was located at the top of a mountain as I was too lazy to want to grapple down each time). I also have a larger build that gets no footfall, but took much more time and effort to build. It feels wrong to me that the minimal build generates coin and the larger build does not.

All of this.

Scrap footfall completely.

I agree with portal network income and the ability to add a cost to use a portal could be a solution. Why should the portal use be free. If footfall was scrapped and an ability for any portal owner to add a cost to use it then issue solved as the earnings for use would pay for the Oort needed.

Don’t forget at no cost to you. Literally created out of thin air.
