Hitting a Wall: Fibrous Leaf Trouble + Yucca Plants

They did change the cost of leaves per sackcloth from 5 to 3 so that might help a little

This is possible with any item in the game as well. If someone is willing to sell these to us at a cheaper price we can shoot down our lower tier tools also. It’s all just a battle til the breakeven point.

Where it stands, we actually feel very comfortable with the fibrous leaf at the moment along with the price that reflects on these tools as well. If harvest rates increase we will lower our asking price, but from where it stands we have not had any complaints on our iron and copper tools, and are still selling our gold, silver, titanium tools cheaper than most of our competitors.

I should also mention that we do gather harvesting rates for each item every day. So while you may find a bunch of leaves and undercut you have a very tiny margin to do this before you start devaluing your time. Anybody can say, “hey, my time is worth 10k coin an hour” and make a killing (relatively) if they sell any finished good.

I usually match sly’s price, in my little store, since he does extensive research, and is more than fair on most everything. That way I am not in the undercutting business, and support a real market value. Undercutting only hurts all of us. If Sly and others ever run out of stuff I will have a few things in the same price brackets. I don’t have much of a store yet. For now just gathering, and watching the next updates to see how deep I want to get into crafting.

But yucca is by far not a problem for me either.

I’ve never thought of it like this- I started, got “tons” of coins for the first few feats and clung onto them for when I’m lazy and need to warp somewhere.

I had used this metric for pricing until now- I warp around for max 2k coins a day (3-4 hours of play). So I need to earn about 500 per hour to cover that. I’ve never actually thought of what my survival cost per hour is, and never put rate of acquisition of resources together with game time. :exploding_head: mind blown.

It was always “there are many trees around, wood must be cheap” or “iron tools whack harder and last longer than copper, they are worth more”. Now I need to answer the more existential question “what am I worth per hour” lol. Thanx again sly

@Zina I am actually very in favor of people trying to undercut effectively! It’s one thing to drop your price for a Sapphire Hammer down to 2000 and another to drop it down so that the value is right in between the sale price and the after tax sale of your major competition.

Also, I do make assumptions on some items for which we haven’t gotten around to testing on specific planets. I am in favor of people relying on my numbers but would warn some people that we can easily be off by 20% if one of our assumptions are incorrect. Some of our incorrect assumptions tend to value base materials lower than they seem to be worth so as we harvest more we change these numbers.

@Prome3us Ultimately, it is a game so I wouldn’t worry about it too much. We do our best to compensate harvesters about 40-60k per hour of their time. There are other successful shop owners who sell mats like coal and are able to make 75k coin per their hours of time. There was even one tech shop that sold devices and components for almost 4 times what we are valuing them at. They would’ve been netting almost 200k per hour of their harvesting time seeing as we found a way to efficiently harvest 250 components and 50 devices in two hours.

We are trying to find a sustainable way to let cash flow to players and back to us. We have made the assumption on a rate to give players based on what has existed prior to my arrival a few months back. So far we are able to keep up in most areas. In other areas we cannot dole out usable items as fast as we would like to.

This is a bit late but if you’re having trouble finding Yucca plants in green grassed areas, try turning your foliage quality down to low. I went from getting like 3-12 fibrous leaves in one run to getting 40-60.

Sorry to revive an old topic but is anyone else having trouble finding fibrous leaves at the moment?. I’ve been running around on the home planet and so far only finding tons of flowers that drop nothing.

Have no troubles finding them. If you cannot find desert swords i siggest trying foliage. But i find them quite easily.

I had a few fresh starts last two weeks both testing and live just to test tutorial etc. Haven’t found fibrous leaves hard to collect and bottlenecking my tool crafting.

i can’t find any desert swords either. i just put 4 points in luck though and foliage is now droping pretty good.

I have to admit that desert swords were easier to find outside desert. Still I simply used other sources of fibrous leaves.
I remember playing through tutorial on the temporary hunting testing server. The home world there had them swords in numbers so it was easy enough to get the coveted leaves.

I was just wondering because I was running around all over Therka for almost an hour and found only one plant, there were absolutely hundreds of other flowers but very few of any that actually dropped resources, even with a leaf in an atlas there was practically no hi lights and the odd ones that did show up were miles apart and when I got to them nothing was there. Hopefully it was just a bit of bad luck and will be better when I try tonight.

When i needed a few more fibrous leaves i used to run just outside my base on munteen and grab some from the nearby field. Last night i was streaming and found absolutely ZERO on the whole planet. I then noticed there was no other surface resources. Then finally after about an hour of looking, i found one oortian staff and like 3 boulders. Normally I would have seen hundreds of everything in that time.
There is something majorly wrong with ore and resource distribution in this patch.

I will have to agree. . especially on starter worlds you have to have the resources or no one will ever be able to get to any of the other worlds.

I am finding more silver than ever before but the basic stuff is not showing in enough amounts if at all.

I’m actually finding a lot more surface resources than usual in caves on Septerfon. Not had much of a hunt around for other things lately though.

Although through the tutorial, I had little issue in getting fibrous leaves from foliage

leaves best is from Foliage but it stil l depends on luck… i say Foliage is best because the other plants are very rare/hard to ifnd now
