True lol. I’ve never played a game where I’ve asked them to add mtx or more things to spend irl $ on like I have been doing with BL…so weird
Oh well let them whinge. Programmers need money to eat and live too. I can only imagine how many hours they spend trying to get everything right …I feel this game is way to cheap…I spent for the deluxe version and that is it…I have not played any other game since it’s release saving me a ton of money. I normally get a game a month…I wish they had a better shop or different level of gleam club .i don’t mind supporting a game we all love to play for hours…
I’d like to put in my vote for either option. “Super-Gleam” is a reasonable microtransaction for a game of this scope, provided it’s at a decent cost per month. Mineable/growable/harvestable Oort would also work, and is probably the better choice to avoid screams of “PAY TO WIN!”
Either way, since hunting is only 20% of the game (what with mining, harvesting, farming, building, crafting, etc.), having some secondary way to get Oort is pretty critical. Few people sell Oort - I’ve had baskets up at 10c over PortalSeeker’s prices and never gotten a single sale, ever.
Make it rare, make it difficult to get, but make it available in some other way than hunting meteorites.
It’s not weird. Cash shops are used to remove a stupid, dumb, annoying, unnecessary and un-fun grind in F2P games. The fact that we ask them to add this to the cash shop only shows that fueling the portal is seen, at least by part of the player base, as such a grind.
Another problem is, there are too many stores, There is no way I can look at all of them.
And what would be the problem if they make oort just like any other gem?
Let it be spread all over high tier planets so you can get it while minning.
I don’t se how people would beacon it, I’ve never seen people beacon other gems, its not something realistic, seams are randomly spread over large areas.
What I can see people putting public mines like for the other gems.
But please don’t remove it from hunting just because some people dont like hunting.
I’ve said it before, forging is not easy and I dont feel like learning to do it, but that doesnt mean I want it to be removed, I can go an buy from some one who knows about forging and thats it.
i would be too i mean you are now taking a valuable item like oort and saying “you can have a unlimited amount of it if you play us x amount” effectively removing it form the economy and opening the door for paid creative mode on the main servers next it will be super deluxe GC where you pay x amount for unlimited spark then master oortian GC where you pay even more to spawn your own exo world once a week(or month)
something like unlimited beacon fuel is minor cuz of how cheep the base cost is but once you open the door to items that are “at the moment” considered a high demand commodity that’s just giving whales all the in game power
Wonderstruck can have my money.
I personally don’t see the value add here.
If I want oort, I go on a hunt, or hunt Road Runners. If I don’t want to hunt I can easily purchase Oort from one of many stores that offer them.
Mining already has a lot of value - Gems/Ore/Stone
I don’t think it needs Oort. Oort would push the balance even further into the ‘be a miner’ section as so much is only available there.
Adding Oort to gathering seems interesting…Gathering could use a boost especially now that farming is out.
However, I am not sure if the boost is needed.
Personally if I was looking to vote on if this should get dev time: I would not vote to have this added to the game.
Just my 2c
Time to add to farming: Oort Root
What if we make a comunity store only for oort?
We can make a guild to give members permission to sell there and use locks to allow only the owners to manage their shop.
That way people who needs oort can easily go and buy it.
I kinda like the idea of self sufficient portal systems.
Footfall generates oort that goes in to a beacon, then perhaps the beacon can be set to divvy out oort to portals (in that beacon’s zone) automatically, or you can collect it from the beacon manually and spread it out to your preferred portals, or take it elsewhere to help your less used pathways.
OR. The portals themselves generate oort when used, again you’d be able to take it out and load up portals used less to keep them active.
Solo portals would still need fuelling, so oort collection/buying would be required. Assuming they’re private portals that no-one else can use.
Either way, you could get oort from portals, beacon footfall, and I’d suggest that mining, gathering, crafting and hunting each reward oort rewards. Even if it was only 1 per kill/block/plant. After all, people say it infuses everything we do…surely travelling through our portals, making our items, mining the planets resources and searching our wildlife, should yield some?
All of this could be altered with time to get a sensible oort flow going.
Sire note. If a single player(+alts) has a bunch of beacons next to each other to abuse the footfall…they should be linked (somehow in the game systems) so they don’t all get their own…because that sounds cheaty as
I have witnessed gem beconing, very annoying on serp
They beacon diamonds but I still can get diamonds …just make it another gem on a new planet that can not be plotted…like a exo…
What if it was a less potent oort, like energized oort dust that could be compacted into shards?
Something small, that took spark to compact into a known fuel, which is shards?
Need like 250 dust to compact it into for 25 shards or something. Then seams of it wouldn’t cause much problems I think
that’s a good suggestion. have it drop as an ultra-rare secondary - like rock salt today but MUCH more rare. This way several hours of mining might yield enough dust for 25 Oort shards. Low enough that it takes a lot of time and effort, but high enough that it’s worth that time and effort.
Yeah either residual drops from gem seams, or a new type of block seam labeled energized oort dust and it can be rock with little glowy specks.
I dont think it should drop from everything. More like concentrated locations.
Or make it dedicated seams of the new block type energized oort dust, but make it spawn close to metals in small amounts since metals are conductive. Like a sciencey way to concentrate oort over time in planets. Since oort is sorta the energy particles of boundless, like electrons.
The metal charges or ionized nearby rock over time leaving deposits of energized oort dust that you can compact.
Edit: this could also be a lore that explains why oort is found in meteors in high concentrations. Meteors come from building blocks of space and more pure locations
Crazy idea alert…
Once a gem+ forged tool had 10 or less uses left, you could choose to use it till it breaks, OR
you could put it in scrap machine, that would give you 5 raw oort.
This way, hunting or buying oort would still be the main/best source for oort & forgers services are still needed.
Since it would only apply to gem+ forged tools and they must be used almost to the point of breaking before they could be scrapped… I don’t think it would interfere with anything
Another crazy idea:
Why not add it in the oceans as part of the collectors? Mining and agriculture I see them quite full of content at the moment, much more than the collection. Being on the seabed would not be easy to collect. In the future, you may add an ability to have better lung capacity and endure more in The seabed, swim faster or increase the speed of descent to the bottom. The oceans in this game are pure decoration, too much space without use in the worlds.
