Coils on the minter is not something important to have it seems more of quality of life benefit. We community will most likely never have the for simple fact is it’s only 40c for every 100c. There are easier ways to make coin then using umbris to make coils to use on the minter.
Does no one want to build your way up to an end game? Should we all be given everything right at the start? That seems to be what everyone wants now a days. I will gladly help anyone level up and perpare for the more difficult aspects of the game.
I have absolutly no interest in umbris, blink or rift.
I am unable to mine whatever exo spawns in a timely manner because i cannot alt/tab all the time to use discord to tell me an INGAME Event.
Will i pick up left Overs? Sure if they are in my way. Will i go out of my way mining for scraps? No.
And if the trend Returns, spawning exos in US main time (yes, you got a big continent, still, not EU main time by far) then i will be totally out of the loop and many others aswell.
Last exo i noticed was allready 40+ People when i arrived. I had the courtesy not to intrude to other Players…they didnt.
So for me, for all what is worth it, all the Special ore has no use as it takes me weeks to get ONE SS, when i see People post they got 3 SS from one session.
Is this my personal Problem? Probably.
On Topic: What good is a resource that is needed, again, for so many good Things the Devs devolped when many people cannot make use out of it?

Then gather and sell the umbris. But sooner or later the rarity is going to ware off. Just like gems did.
Not really, you are encouraging more effort, because as it stands right now, Umbris is due to spawn in on an Exo world whenever the Devs or RNG allows it to happen.
So people who are willing to be last in line can wait until that happens (Less Effort And the Default Path for most.)
While people who really want the minter now, will pay the price thru their teeth (More Effort)
This a problem that Exo worlds simply don’t have enough new content, all they really added into the game at this time, was 3 ores that mostly just build more powerful and unneeded versions of what we already have, and new colors, so the reason T7 exos may hold very little purpose for you, and other players, Would be lack of total new content. Not because it needs even more of a grind.
Which is why I do support a hard to get item, just not Umbris, which is already set as an ore.

I know this is off topic
If they want to create rare things for the game why not make them trophies of some sort and not materials that are used or could be used to make other things? Why artificially restrict materials that are used in recipes and to make building materials? All you do is discourage players from using them.
Then you can create a trophy room or museum to display your finds

Just want to say I personally feel that a) this is indeed elitism and b) this is definitely a “turn off”" for me as a game mechanic.

Key phrase: in your opinion. Now go look at every other successful MMO ever made. You can call it elitism, I actually like that word, it fits. Time and effort should equal status. Go play any board game for that matter. Should everyone start off with Park Avenue and Boardwalk? Sadly, there is a new school of thought that teaches that everyone is entitled to everything. That’s just not reality in games or otherwise.

Ill be honest from the start of this game back before December. Even at low level I never felt anything was hard to obtain at all. (Nevermind I forgot about feathers!)

Maybe we both have different views about this, but you can be a hardcore gamer, and even be in the top % and not have elitism, Elitism exists for people who want to pontificate their ego around everyone and use their in game assets or skill to assist in doing so. So it is possible, however not the most common thing, to have very hard to get items/status with out people acting like jerks about it.
The bottom line is,
Elitism Is a Type of Discrimination, Keep that in mind when you say you like the word.

We have Elite Wildstock i see them better then the little donkey stocks. 
there is nothing wrong with having different “classes” of ranked people in a game. I know I will regret in some response wording it this way but cant think of alternate word but lower, middle and high classes. Their has to be a end game to this. End game things make it worth reaching the point where you can have the nicer things. if there isn’t then what is the point.
Subjective, I like my huggable „little donkey stocks“
There is nothing inherently wrong with it, but the human mind and actions will turn it in to a problem, and it can cause some people to feel bad, as some people can use rank as a tool for self judgement, while others might use the rank to put people below them and insult them.
While that might be fitting for more competitive games and PvP games, it feels a bit much for boundless.

I doubt that anyone here was trying to insult or belittle anyone in this game or thread. Words can be misconstrued especially through chat.
Many people have been hoping for something to consider rare and precious in the game and Umbris can be that, and i feel should be. Though that is my opinion. I know some may not agree but some will.
and lets not get this thread locked also like the circa residents one…lets all remain civil please.

I understand wanting something rare thats not easy to acquire, but I don’t think it should be umbris. I’d rather it be something earnable in game and non tradeable. That’s how I would gauge “elite”. Not something i can throw coins at, because we all know how some people feel about the coin curve in this game.

That wasn’t quite what I was saying.
I am saying if the system of a hierarchical ranking was put in, It can open the doors for such bad things to happen. I was not saying that anyone was trying to insult people right here and right now.

An elite class can very well exist without a derogatory or discriminatory directive. We have elite soldiers, elite actors, elite minds. It simply sets a standard of excellence. It can just as well be the other classes who impose jealousy and reverse discrimination. Elitism in and of itself is innocuous just as a gun is innocuous.
