Add RPG MMO or some sort of ARK-like moddability (like Boundless is slated to be when the next release comes out) without the need for ten million tons of devkit like ARK did… and make it work on an old mac… and… and… I keep trying/meaning to get more into Minecraft (java edition b/c mods) but it takes me forever to learn a new game.
That is more of a rant than anything you’ve done so far
Java Edition minecraft is good, if you get it I might invite you to the ezpz server too its like boundless but without colors and other cool QoL features, but still fun
.
Minecraft is grindy, but rewarding and not really hard.
Anything that fits on one screen is miniscule compared to some of my rants, especially while I was still homeless and playing from the cafe in town. I’ve been in a crappy mood and too dour to want to put the effort into ranting more and more lately, it comes and goes depending on whether I hurt too much to play Boundless ;D
What in the world will everyone do without me if I finally get my hip fixed so I can take my lifelong love of wandering in the woods and poking around in abandoned buildings all day back to Earth?
I would love to fix your hip. You have been putting a lot of energy into ranting (I guess in an effort to let steam out and make your life better). Based on what you like, canada may be a good option (beware of economic collapse though, that may happen soon).
Lets not derail this thread with mildly political issues. I hope your hip is fixed soon sending good vibes
It takes more energy to not rant–you’re right about the steam; the effort you’re describing is all expended by the reader. ;D And yeah, when things implode it’s going to take out all of English-speaking Pax WASP but if I can jump ahead of the collapsing wave I might be able to jump out ::snaps grapples grinningly::
Modded MC has more QoL than Boundless does by far. Some really great mods out there.
The collapse will affect both USA and Canada Solgato, buy some land in the country and setup a farm to wait the collapse out (can be done in either usa or canada).
You’re correct someone could theoretically make a mod to make minecraft exactly like boundless, but cheaper.
The primary selling point of boundless over any MC Mod is the universal community. All servers accessible in game ON FOOT without any menu selections, lobbies, or immersion breaking loading screens. Everything else is just modded minecraft.
Except:
- No Grapples! That’s a breaking point for me when I tried MC after playing Boundless for a year. Takes forever to climb a mountain and explore in MC.
- I’ve seen some of those mods that update the graphics to the extreme. But as pretty as they are, they’re still static compared to the fluidity of movement in Boundless.
- Stuck on one server in MC. Yes, you can move to another server, but you have to leave everything behind. Boundless lets you explore multiple servers just by walking/warping/portaling there.
MC would have to get a major graphic overhaul and engine fix for me to give up Boundless for it.
- MC when using mods, game takes ages to load.
- MC on PS4 since Microsoft bought it is an absolute shambles. The simplicity of the menu UI utterly ruined by ridiculous bloating.
-
There are grapples if you want a grapple. There are also Jetpacks… teleportation… waypoints…warps… etc. All within mods.
-
The graphics arent as important to me as gameplay… but sure I agree the comparison graphically isn’t close.
-
Boundless lets you explore a limited size universe and visit different planets much like Minecraft would in the sense of traveling to the Nether or The End via a portal same type of system. There are also mods that let you create planets … and add other worlds to visit in Minecraft. Minecraft also has a world that is only limited in size by the space of a hardrive. It is limitless for the most part.
I would agree MC is not Boundless, but from a functionality standpoint and all the things that are possible it is more “Boundless” in Minecraft because everything you can do in Boundless has already been done for the most part in Modded Minecraft and a whole lot more.
While I don’t rank graphic quality as high as gameplay on my list of games, I do agree MC is a step back in that regard.
yeah i def want to put in the time to get good enough at minecraft (java) to be attractd to playing it more, my nephews were playing it a couple of years ago and they’re like 8 and 10 and we haven’t met yet (almost, but then my little brother moved to the same state just as the rona hit and i was too paranoid after taking a Great Courses course on Infectious Diseases to want to mingle with other humans over the holidays… i made a comedy club on Pheminorum called The VIRUS instead )
and i’ll try and remember not to rant in this thread, my mind is going tho ;D thanks for the kind vibes
oh yeah i definitely love this about Boundless, it’s totally the sort of thing i dig, the sandbox combined with it is phenomenal
You absolutely should, theres a mostly vanilla EzPz owned server that we could teach you how to play on. I found a cool cave system (the room I tunneled into was absolutely huge), took a lot of torches to mob-proof it. recently, we could definetely invite you.
ok gimme a little slack for being a serious space cadet but i will remember to ask on Discord
I’m a CMDR in the Elite: Dangerous universe so I will
Just smoke and mirrors… They refuse to clarify the comment at this stage
Now back to volunteering my time to help form the “project” in a very positive manner
Well, since it is filling up half my Twitter feed, I’ll add this to the Other Games thread as well.
Lot of thoughts here… but in short, as someone who has come to appreciate Game Pass, hope it works out well, for them and us. Maybe I’ll finally play WoW for the first time…
Been watching streamers play mortal online 2.
