Guys guys you’re all missing the obvious solution here.
If we disable block placement I think this will solve all these issues

SO IT’S YOURS @Tagris !
I KEPT THINKING SOMEONE BUILT A MASSIVE CPU CHIP!
You win the internets today DK lol
You.
I like you.
Which ones are those exactly? Since for the life of me if you want to settle in a spot far, far away from anyone else so you can easily expand in the future in many directions then there is no such planet… Well T5+ perhaps.
Yes and no, with my market I really do want the buffer protection so when a beacon expires or someone deletes their beacon or whatever someone else can’t just throw a beacon down and claim it. With my settlement as a whole I also have it on since there are areas that are on my main beacon that surround Coin Converters for instance (or the market) where I also do want the buffer protection, but there are plenty of borders where I wouldn’t mind to turn it off but this would mean replotting them to be on another beacon. I’ve been doing some replotting past few days but it’s not the most fun things to do.
it’s kinda funny tho, when I settled on Trung I had quite a bit of plots to play with and vowed to not make it a mess as it was in New Leyden with all the different beacons but if I had known then that buffer zones would be introduced I would have done things differently.
I don’t see it, There are many worlds that still have large areas of open space. no one is being forced to play in a confined area, if people elect to do so themselves by building on a popular world, that is not really the fault of the game.
I purposefully selected a world no one really looks at to house my main base, and it took 10 months for an unexpected guest to build next to my base.
As for the wipe aspect of the situation. That would create even more problems.
Picked a world at random,
There is alot of open space if you look for it.
I think a lot of it is a matter of perception.
If you live somewhere surrounded by people, you think that the universe is crowded.
If you live somewhere alone, you wonder where everyone is.
Fortunately or unfortunately some cities will be next to each other. If you don’t want to be next to people, and are somewhere crowded, you may have to move.
Note that packing up and moving is the equivalent, for you at least, of a universe wipe, plus you get to keep all your stuff! No idea why there are so many calls for a wipe, other than lulz. Misery loves company I guess?
That’s adorable AF
I’m not promoting a wipe — I’m communicating that the lack of that and other issues in the game are helping to increase confrontations. While buffers in cities cause issues I doubt they cause huge issues versus the benefits in the wild. I support the OP example as a great way to protect future interests and plans especially when done in the wild.
One could argue that roads going through wild areas to create connections to builds increases the use of plotting and buffers because it greatly increases the chance that someone might move into the area. So the person already there will work harder to protect their building interests.
We saw this on Biitula. As the first city and capital on the planet after release, one hub (Which could have built anywhere on the empty planet) exploded the amount of people in our area. Had buffers existed back then that hub likely would have decided to move somewhere else because we would have been able to fully protect the area we landed first on. I don’t fault that hub at all for the decision but game mechanics caused that decision and didn’t allow protection from that decisions. We’ve been dealing with the prestige usage and consistent build encroachment in that area since then. (Side note that hub was lovely and released the land back to us as a sign of good faith. It greatly repaired the relationship and was respectful)
Sure we could have moved but the problem would happen somewhere else because of how people push for footfall and prestige growth to get more footfall. Plus we see roads across a huge host of planets now. So our land there unless fully reserved would have been likely cut through by a road making our plans be ruined. Plus why should we move we where there first and others could have decided to live elsewhere on that planet or other planets instead of literally touching our plots. We own one area on that planet. Not many or spread all over it.
It sticks that confrontation happens. Fix the game mechanics so it won’t. That is the solution. People protect their interests.
If you’re ok with the situation, stay
If you’re unhappy, the best response is probably to move (generic advice)
Why should you have to move? Because you’re the one (again generic “you” not specifically xalda) who doesn’t like having neighbors, which is part of the game mechanic. Presumably the people who built next to you wanted neighbors. It’s just part of the game IMO. I just don’t think calling for wipes is constructive, I see it as trolling. It’s easy (and a game mechanic) to wipe your own builds if desired.
My sight may be fading a bit with age but my reading comprehension is still pretty good. This is not my first time reading the forums and you talking this wipe nonsense. So lets not be coy shall we.
You personally have a lot of issues with Biitula and feel since as you put it “were there first” a sense of entitlement and a sense of being slighted as you cautiously alluded to. I can see from your viewpoint why you might like a do over to do things a bit differently. I get it I really do. BUT thats never gonna happen. So plot buffers or no plot buffers youre still in a checkmate position in your current situation. Meaning you are where you are unless someone quits or moves away or rental planets emerge.
I just sometimes feel this is a crying over spilt milk issue with you.
Back to the plot buffer issue its a mechanic that can be used for both bad and good depending on intent I feel it only added another problem to the existing problem prior. Before the buffers the philosophy was “Plot all you are going to need or someone else will” Now its “Grab as much land as you can with the plots and buffers so no one else can” attitude. So yeah your right with the buffers its definitely gonna make things a lot tighter and available space less going forward. People adapt to game mechanics and if theres a way to get more for less they most certainly will.
Ehhhh you have to build something before you can “wipe” it.
This entire argument has gotten a bit out of hand and off target. Just a reminder that the thread is about the buffer zones and the abuse of plots to exploit those buffers. This thread has instead devolved into an “us vs them” argument that is never going to end well.
its a territorial game with no referee it creates that very mentality.
since the owner found out about single road plots not retaining the reserved plots on the next update he decided to do this…picture attached…still think its abuse,if u have the plots claim it like they say they do then do so. otherwise im forced out of my area cause i cant expand.i was claiming as i needed ,i didnt think i needed to use my 5k plots to claim stuff i havent built on yet cause there wasnt anyone near me for hundreds of plots away.
just one area that they surroundedI think you will find they just doubled up every section hence the wasted plots they have there in your new picure. Might be a good idea to try to talk with them and see their plans are before blasting them on the forums.
and they could have also talked to people that they claimed around or right up against.i have mail box all around my place
If you are trying to solve an issue with a particular person or entity, it would probably help if you contacted them directly, instead of @ the general forum.
They are going to leave space in between areas for other people to plot and build. Just like every other group does when they build a town/grid/etc. There are no rules that states someone has to (for ie:)plot a 10x10 perfectly square area and fill in every plot.
Edit to add: I know that they have told everyone (that has contacted them about their plans), that they are more than happy to move plots if they are in your way/etc.
