Plot protection abuse

I think he was saying that could be a trade-off for adding a speed bonus to using the road. So more people would probably use the road and the ff would probably be more or the same :woman_shrugging:

Hmm yeah, didn’t think of that…

Well, more reasons for hoping that rental planets are here soon!

Even if not more players start playing we all still are, mostly anyway, and we keep getting more and more plots so it will become worse over time…

‘‘or less coin’’
I built a fairly long and pointless road on antar. it looks nice, I had fun making it, if it didn’t generate a single coin, I wouldn’t mind at all.
the problem is not rewarding or not rewarding people who build, it’s building just to get a reward that could cause unpleasantness

The problem with foot fall is exactly that - It is free and infinite and causes people to build all types of things in the game to get it.

It causes builds to never go away, it causes roads and wide areas of land to be taken, it causes people to force settlement mergers for bigger cities, it creates a fake economy, etc. It is one of the fundamental decisions (along with prestige) that caused a huge amount of conflict and incentivizes people to act a certain way because they are rewarded for it.

It (along with Prestige) should be removed or revamped massively. The plot protection issues are directly related to people trying to link and build near another person because of increased footfall potential. So removing some of the core incentives would help lower the possibility of things like this topic. Why? Because for some their builds are to help gain traffic (malls everywhere, cities that never die even if people don’t live in them) versus building for building sake and for yourself or your guild.

I agree with removing footfall (as much as someone who sits legs swinging on the edge of barely caring can agree or disagree with something) from what I’ve seen it just creates conflict and prompts players to commit unpleasantnesses. it might just be the fancier of simple stone and wood, who enjoys relative isolation speaking though.

One thing I wanted to note about this… The game is not wiping. So people have to plan for the long run and consider what things are like 3-10 years from now. Due to that, especially if you are a builder, you need to plan big and reserve the land you want. Many of us learned from the release last year how easy it is for someone to come in and build right beside you destroying the idea you had for that area. Since we have no easy way to move (no blueprints even 1 plot at a time) people have to protect their interests or decide to take tons of hours destroying what they have done. So for those not wanting a wipe they certainly should be able to understand not wanting to have to manually move. If people had move options then maybe land protection wouldn’t be as big as a priority for some people.

just add a portal to the wild in your hub like we did in sunkentown

i have big zones off unused land allong our two wide roads
building a big city is impossible without protecting your land way before it gets build
on release we build aqua embassy without reservation and after a while you just become a 50 procent inactive and uncontrolable city center plotting big and better control over citys is the way off the future ive build several citys since beta times
and belief me this is the only way to make it work if you want a uniform design all along the city

i hope to see many more planets being plotted like this

all i would sugest is a 80procent plot limit on planets to have a little zone off wild for mining and farming planet resource
but i know you guys probably will have a part still wild (and others will fill it up lolz) :+1: thx for being the first to do this it will make it easyer in future for others to start big much apreciated

if you see our map we check to maintain a nice friendly border (red line) to respect the OG’s off the planet as long as we do this is all goodz (hope the settlement mecanic gets update though)

It is a good point on the long-term planning, something I need to think more about…

50 years from now I wanna be curled up in my nursing home bed, but with my brain wandering in PSVR 17, pointing out my original creations to all the young whippersnappers from the 140,353 current permanent planets on pilgrimage to see the old lady about to celebrate her Golden Anniversary in the Oortiverse.

I’m not joking here, that would be my dream, lol!

Ahh yes, that’s why you keep claiming you’re not playing but secretly you actually are building on planet Aquarius huh?

Yes, I want this to be true, since I know backers who had the private planet package will get them before the rest of the populace gets access to them so if you’re building on it now release of them will be close!

it be a public world and the first day we walk there you can to
dont think there some kind off early acces  but if there is i wont say no lol
also the moon need be in the seventh sky and jupiter and mars need to allign
peace need to guide the planets and the love need to steer the stars
think it still take some time

agreed 100%. the future has to be yellow first (or lime or whatever that color is called) months ago I patiently grinded for my then 3000 plots and haven’t placed a single brick before all the land was plotted. and that was just a personal base of very little importance on a planet with a population of 6 active players

I really am against the private worlds but to each his own. I am for the solution being more planets like double the amount. As the plot total grows for all players that play for long periods of time this issue is going to persist. For everytime some one makes a post on plot reservation make a new planet. Problem solved and let’s get back to what matters more in game content.

I would like to see some of the Exo’s stay – The same few worlds over and over makes-- yes Exo’s more desireable but limits if the game grows how many planets people can build on. Cities grow and cities fall. I would be happy to see more perm planets.

Granted: Public Cities may become less and less. It will become “Go to this planet which is owned by this guild”

What if we had an internal way to vote for favorite exos? Like a so many “upvotes” let’s the planet stay in system? Captured by the sun’s gravity or something.

I often find myself saying “I wish we could vote for this EXO to stay”. We haven’t rec’d our perma T7 yet, so that’s something to look forward to.

I think we need more T1-T3 planets than high tier EXOs-turned-permanent though. Most people seem to want to settle & build on the lower tier planets and are stepping on each other’s toes right now. I guess one would assume max level players would all go for T5+ planets, but most people (even maxed players) prefer the lush, clam, beautiful serenity that can only really be found on the lower tier planets.

It’s fun to explore, harvest, and hunt on the higher tier planets - so they def retain purpose.

If only there were a ritual to re-summon past exos!

With 256 colors available, I wish something could be added to prevent more than one or two per month that have colors we’ve already seen before. -or at least prevent them from matching anything that we have on a perma planet -

There are some colors we haven’t seen yet at all :pensive:

Yeah RNG and statistics dictate we will see the same colors many times before we see some colors once.
