Anyone found a way to reduce the fog in the files on higher tier planet ?
Do you mean the weather or the draw distance? For one there are clear weather totems and brews, and the other needs an xml edit.
I bookmarked it: Removing / Decreasing Weather - @Jiivita messed with the files a couple of years ago
I tried that and its bot working properly. I know ther was en engine pass at some point and these are probably prior that.
I would say the draw distance. The little fog in the background that makes the sky go away because its too thick during the day
@Huntsman you have any ideas on this?
I have managed to change de fog color etc but every fog transparency settings seem to do nothing. I am wondering if i have to look into the hdr or lighting files.
Maybe its hard coded too and there is no option to reduce it.
In the game options file. Same spot you find the render distance stuff.
I think there is a globalFogScale reducing that number use to work. I’m not at a computer so I can’t say for sure.
Ok i will take a look later today
it is modified in one of json files but i totally forgot where it was… it was able to turn it off completely
i think it was this topic
I rather enjoy the weather effects. Makes for some great atmospheric screenshots.
I have tried these 2 files, and nothing changes the thickness of the fog. These seem to alter all visual effect like rain drop, snowflakes, worldtype effect like the burning flames on burn world, etc…
There is a file for world atmosphere with fog setting in it, but it only changes the color of it.
This why i may lean towards the engine settings, it seems to be something to smooth out the world atmosphere. At night this fog is not there but during the day you can barely see the planets in the sky.
im sure i have that annoying atmospheric fog removed, it was damn annoying at lucent exos, they were barely visible
im trying to reach person who helped me to modify exact json file but so far no answer, im sure i modified 1 json file changing 1 string from true to false, that was all,
Maybe it’s one of these settings?
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Boundless\assets\archetypes\atmospheresettings.json
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Boundless\assets\archetypes\clientweathersettings.json
Looks like this one has the extra particles on the higher tiers C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Boundless\assets\archetypes\elementalweather.json
I know I have said this before (and I am guessing it is not possible easily) but just put the function back in that was in EA to turn off the weather affects.
Found this in “archetypes/renderersettings.json” ----> “globalFogScale” : 0.5.
This does removes the ambient fog, so it does help for the sky but there is still this haze over. must be something else then.
we getting closer
This seems to be related to the fog when an exoplanet is dying.
This is all the weather effect except fog.
This the one i can use to change the fog color or planet atmosphere color. Played with the Range’s double and it seems to do nothing i can see.
It seems to be in the files “archetypes/lighting”.
In this folder there is the sun/moon option for each planet types. you can change the sun color, atmosphere color and there is option for the fog also.
i managed to make the planet always in the night so there’s no haze in the sky.
I’ll play a bit in those and comeback if i find the option to reduce that haze during the day.
