Refine Gleam Prestige is too high

Right now gleam’s prestige is way too much in my opinion.
Refine gleam is so easy to craft and gleam is so easy to gather.
These kind of materials should be low prestige.

Right now refine gleam (different world version) has 19 prestige/ unit
I can gather 3600 gleams in 1 hour.
If I spend 5 hour in 1 day i can get 18000 gleams.

Mass craft refine gleams give you x 1. 3 refine - gleams

so it should be 18000 x 1.3 x 19 = 444,600 prestige.

And this is just 1 person’s work.

Currently I notice some settlement got 600 k prestige in 1 night.
(yes, 1 night)

Almost 1m in 2-3 days increase rate, and they only have like less than 10 people.
This prestige growing speed is similar to ps main city at Grovidas Te lol
(They have tons of players settle in their town which is reasonable.)

And if you notice they used tons of gleams to build their town and maybe even more under ground.

If you break some high prestige house’s wall, you may find out a lot of re-fine gleams hide behind the wall.
(other example, not the group i mention on top)
Its kind of force us to use the gleam to compete with them for capital. (we have 20 -30 people in the town :joy:)
But we still can’t catch up because we don’t have enough plots to place those gleams.

So right now people who can offer a lot of plots have huge benefit for capital, if all their member keep gathering the gleams how difficult for them to increase the prestige ?

Is this the message dev want us to use gleam to build everything ?
or spend a lot of money to buy plots if we want to keep capital ?

Also if they want, they can merge any city on their expanding direction.
(Who can compete the warden position with someone has 300-400 plots + 1 - 2 m prestige ?)

However, i need to admit this is the correct way to play the game, because the game system design in this way.

They are really smart.:joy:

You’re not alone. There’s a topic already discussing the prestige value of gleam here;

As it stands, you can either ignore the prestige system all together, which is an option, or compete for the title of ‘most gleam in settlement’.

:joy:

Yes, also plots.

one correction: it’s 10 base prestige per refined gleam (times whatever your beacon’s multiplier is). 10 is pretty average compared to many block types. Contrast that to gleam lanterns (40 base prestige) for example.

If it helps, might be worth looking at the full list to contrast prestige values (including future block types):

Plots is a tricky one. On one hand you have to work to get them, so their value is valid; on the other hand you can buy plots with real money, so there is something of a pay to win system in place (if you consider having the highest prestige score ‘winning’)

I think the issue is the value to work ratio. It just needs a little tweaking. As it stands refined gleam is in the same bracket as bricks, and anything higher takes multiple ingredients - opposed to collecting a stack of gleam and throwing it in a refinery.

I just test it by place and remove refine gleam, and the number change is 19.
So i think its 19. (Maybe exotic bonus ?)
Usually you use the different world planet block to build it give you almost double the prestige points .

It’s base value is 10, but the algorithm takes other things into account and a percentage of your overall score is changed as a result.

Thanks for the explanation.
But its too easy to craft compare to bricks.
both are 10 base value.

The way prestige works is by:

  • Adding up the base prestige value of all the blocks in your beacon
  • Determining a multiplier based on the types of blocks you place, variety, exotic colors, block types, and other things
  • The total is calculated by multiplying the two values

For example, I get 16 prestige when placing refined gleam in one of my beacons (+60% multiplier), and 20 prestige in another one (+100% multiplier)

Agreed that gleam has a far too high a prestige value, for the ease of getting hold of it (looking at you Kada 1).
But also there is a delight to building something huge out of shiney stuff. I caught that bug in early access and managed to get it out of my system then…now I try to use it as an accent rather than the main feature.
Yeah, some people use it purely for presitge but also there are peeps just wallowing in the sheer glory of he big shiny.
Prestige value does need to be reduced though. Definitely.

Yeah, also i don’t want dev to make gleam or refine gleam harder to gather.
Its nice when builder to use it to build something really beautiful.
The only problems is the prestige is too much

Another solution might just be to increase the value of bricks.

Also there is one thing i feel weird too.
Does capital means the city settled by most people ?
Why don’t they add % bonus base on how much players settle in 1 settlement ?

If one person or really small group buy a lot of plots to build a small town but has highest prestiges.
For me, it doesn’t looks like capital at all

It’s a tricky system to weigh up, and I know the developers have been wracking their and the communities brains for a balanced system ever since it was implemented back in beta.

Now that the game is live and there’s more data to go through, I wouldn’t be surprised if the prestige system is tweaked as and when unwanted patterns arise.

Sit tight and just build how you want to - if something is overpowered it’ll be fixed in time. If you put all your eggs in that basket now, you may regret it when a balance patch hits.

Yeah i think you are right.
I should focus on other things first i guess.

Thanks for reply.

Just use Refined Iron or Copper block like us we have just make 18k of them that’s 1.4 mill once we place them all.

I have the capitol on serpen but since new games are coming out it basically a ghost town now. I build mainly out of bricks some Dec block. I got 1 other settleent I’m fighting with and they use mostly gleam and it seams very messed up that my brick has such low value when you consider the farming I have to do to get them. Buff bricks lold

nothing wrong with being 2nd place and submitting to your dominant overlords

Go to shedu, there is 1000s of gleam under the ocean… Dont want it seen? Burry it under your base.
