šŸŽØ Rental Planet Colors

Maybe there should be new global quest where players have to sacrifice million(s) of sprays that it comes available for choice

If this is the case then the economy is doomed. If they do allow colors to spawn over time (which is what they have said) then ultimately there will be no rare colors and that part of the economy will disappear. So if that is all that is holding up the economy, I would argue get rid of it now.

Edit:
The economy in EA was never based on rare colors and seemed to do just fine. There were no exos, no gleambow so no source of rare colors and the economy did just fine.

I admit this was the first thing that crossed my mind with this possibility… there was a shot posted earlier in another thread where the ā€œfinalā€ thing jumped out at me, almost asked about it when asking about getting new colors posted.

But, since there are enough permanent colors to probably let me get ones that will work for me, I’ll do mine ASAP, and hope I roll some nice ones for those of you that come after.

I don’t care about rarity at all, but I’ll admit I don’t like this, feels like a penalty for buying sooner, that if someone rolls a nice one that would look good on my world after I buy that I could have gotten if I waited, then I’m just stuck.

Although I do not know the details of why they have chosen the theme of color choice as a limited option, it seems that what the developers have intended is that we be the owners and sovereigns of those planets but not the gods of those planets.

We have certain options on them but we cannot create them to our liking. Maybe that’s where the name Sovereign Worlds comes from, so at first it seems coherent to me at least, and although it may not seem important to others, I highly value that in an MMO.

In my case, the color of the block is not important because when I build I try to adapt to what I have at hand or what I think can best combine with what I have built. I have never built based on a plan, I am improvising. Having a good range of options to choose the most pleasant colors possible is enough for me.

I know u were jk but global quests would be kinda cool. I like those in other games.

If every colour is selectable on rental planets, that wouldn’t just effect the paint businesses. Every exo store selling only exo exclusive colours will be effected.

Goo will become practically worthless. Who in their right mind would want to go through the troubles of pigment production when gathering the rocks or trunks can produce infinitely more product… with no exo trip cost required too.

Other than Kindling, Petrolim, Resin and Lucents, what would be the point of exo planets? Trips to exo planets would most likely diminish severely.

The gleambow event would be a non event… it’s currently one of the better events in game, why chase gleambows around when you could just spawn a planet with any colour block of your choice?

Seriously consider all of the repercussions a change you are suggesting could have on the game.

I was writing a comment almost identical to this but decided I was gonna get too much flak for it and deleted it. But now that someone else said it I’ll echo it as well. There WILL be effects on the economy that people aren’t thinking of and the biggest one is those with specialized Exo shops, like you said. Some people have built their entire shops and livelihood in the game, around rare color shops. Rolling out new colors slowly allows them to adjust their stock and price accordingly without destroying their entire business. If we release every color then all those exo shops and rare color shops would absolutely tank Almost immediately and I guarantee some people might quit from that just because they would have to start 100% fresh on a new store out of nowhere.

You guys aren’t going to get flak for bringing up valid points like this. It’s good to hear all input.

@econodog Hopefully we’ll get more mobs, more unique substances, & things in the future that will give players more reasons to explore Exo planets.

There are def players that are hardcore against rare colors & items, then those that enjoy the challenge of seeking these things out. I’m mostly in the 2nd group, but I can understand the frustration it brings builders & those in the 1st group.

Maybe Titans will be exo exclusive. Which I’m sure Titans will come with more mobs. So this is something that would help preserve the need for exos

I have to say, I don’t think that most of us who want color availability are against rarity in general. We just see how much of a waste it is to have a great building system and see that we can only build with about 10-20% of the color palette. I literally have millions of coins and can’t even purchase half the items/colors I need for my build. It’s one of the reasons I find the economic argument to be so ironic. I’d gladly give up goo, gleambow, and exo exclusive colors to be allowed to put forth the work to create builds as I envision them. I don’t want creative mode, I want the game to get 10k more people and pop out another 150 planets so I can start farming!

lol this would be AMAZING :+1: - maybe that’s the grand plan

Isn’t this just wanting creative though? You’re willing to give up everything that makes this game an MMO specifically so you can just build what you want. In my own opinion (I know we all disagree here, so this is all just my 2 cents and just rambling at this point) this game is great how they have it. I think they intend it to be this way because it is an MMO first and a building game second. The blocks will come. But an MMO needs progression. Unlocking new never before seen colors of blocks is part of what makes it an MMO. the gleambow event makes it an MMO. Exo World’s make it feel like an MMO. Like there are things to work towards and overall game progression happening over a multi year time span. That’s how an MMO should work. We shouldn’t just get handed the whole color wheel we should have to work for it over the years of the game to preserve a sense of progression for those of us who play this as more than JUST a building game.

What problem?

Also Sony does not allow testing on PS4

To preface this, it might sound harsh, but it’s really not. I’m just too inebriated to continually rewrite my post to get rid of my bluntness .

I’ve been playing this game for 3 years and do pretty much everything this game has to offer. Gleambow, goo, and exclusive Exo colors don’t make the game an MMO for me. The fact I can come together and do things with the community in a single universe makes this an MMO. I played over a thousand hours before goo, Exos, or gleambow were even hinted at. It wasn’t any less of an MMO back then and the community from back then can tell you we still enjoyed our time.

If waiting for an Exo to spawn with the right color on the forums is working or progression, we definitely won’t see eye to eye on this one. :man_shrugging: Progression for me is seeing a build develop, gathering the materials to make brew, figuring out a better way to forge, maybe setting up the perfect farm. It’s not from being able to chop trees for 5 hours during a 5-day span when an Exo just happens to be available, build for an hour then go back to Path of Exile until the next color I need hits. I want to actively work towards an objective, not sit and play the ā€œwhich color do we get this week?ā€ game. That game is rigged and it sucks.

What most color rarity folks want isn’t really color rarity, but for something to constantly work on and showcase their progression. (I want it as well!) There are tons of places in the game where things can be added to fill that need. Animal husbandry, exploration items/archeology, visible in game titles or cosmetics for achievements, and lots of other ideas from these forums. Unfortunately, there isn’t anything currently in-game that does a good job of filling this role for non-builders. You aren’t the only person that wants to have progression in other areas of the game. Very few people only do one thing in-game and many of us can easily do everything ourselves at this point.

If only exos actually had new colors lol.

Most of them came with already existing colors or are pretty much clones from past exos.

I will post what colors did we get for over a year of exoworlds, i think you will be shocked of how many different colors we had to this date.

I’ll wait to pass final judgement on this once I get a chance to play on my test world and see how the system works but hearing the very limited palette choice of colors available has decreased my probability of actually paying money for a world once they are released.

The main appeal for me in getting a private world is to be able to set it up with the exact color palette I want to make it unique from other worlds. If I can only choose from cookie cutter palette options that all the other worlds have I might as well just wait for a fresh public world to spawn and rush to plot a giant swath of land to have as my building playground.

Lately it feels like we just get the same every time with just a couple ā€œdifferentā€ colors.
Like having silk yellow and then warm yellow, yes they are different but not a worthy difference :frowning:

I would like to see the diversity in new colors we have got so far tho!

Uhhh so many valid points from both sides of this colour argument. Absolutely if paying for a world you would expect a larger range of choice, but on the flipside the devs rightfully want to protect the purpose of Exos, I wish the Devs good luck on keeping everyone happy here, whilst I just sit on the fence…
