I’m actually more of a neighborhood watch volunteer, but everybody seems to consider me a Mod just because I have a few report features.
Had no idea, but now i cant unsee it!
Although its been that way for a while apparently, this post pointing it out is by far the most significant change to the boundless experience, in the history of the game.
Thanks for that.
I guess my question at this point would be: Are there any mods at all? Is there any structure besides James having to deal with a mosh pit of people screaming while having to deal with who knows what else his job entails?
There is a community manager, but they handle mostly game promotions.
Boy sure* would be nice if we had a mod to lock this righ’ now…
I have a contact, I’m going to get in touch with them and see what I can get going.
Everyone has to agree that the forums would be better with structure and stopping the unnecessary aggression.
Really though, lets cut the shitposting out.
The guy from the Rocky and Bullwinkle show?
Yup!
I came here to make a counterpoint and defend my previous position, not to ■■■■ post. That’s all I want to add.
Take it to the PM’s guys. It’s getting out of hand and Way off topic.
I was a moderator for two years on a forum, it was not game, it was for parents of special needs children so we had a lot of people who were dealing with many issued that were hard on them. I learned quickly that I did not have the right to pick side, that I was to put out the fires. Since I wasn’t paid, it was basically the same as a volunteer but I had the exact same responsibility as a real firefighter, I was to Put The Fire Out, not throw more fuel on it.
As part of the core group, basically the council, I also had the unhappy task of banning those who couldn’t set aside their separation of what they believed from the rights of others.
That is what is needed here, mods, volunteers who will set aside their personal views, their emotions and do their best to bring peace to the forums. We don’t have that many here, and those who do have that position need to remember – you put out the fire, not stir it up. Put aside your emotions, personal feelings, viewpoints and think of the needs of the forum, of the job of keeping the post respectful, peaceful and productive.
My two cents in that task.
Lets take a break and acknowledge the actual threat from this update …
Elite wildstocks with RED health bars !!!

How about a “rested” exp buff that builds up while not playing? Originally WoW de-buffed exp gain after a certain amount of leveling… players HATED it… so they changed to the rested exp system… effectively doing the same thing but gave a helping hand to players with less time to play instead of punishing those with ample time to play.
You could also enable exp for basic crafts like stone / timber only while the player has the buff… the draw back is that this would need to be well communicated to avoid confusion… something like “exp doubled and enabled for basic crafts for the next X amount of exp”… and mentioned during the tutorial… but even then there will be those that would be confused as to why they don’t always get exp for basic crafts =/
When you posted this I was in the process of setting up my “rock exploit” which I would actually just call the current meta instead of exploit. But thats another discussion.
In my 45 min teaching pie buff, roughly 97,000 rock, i got about 1.5 mil xp? 2100 cubits i believe. Math may be off slightly since i didnt write anything exact down, but should be close enough. I’m curious to how you got 11 mil xp to use as an example. I got 7 levels from this post 50
(The rest of this doesnt apply to the post im responding to)
The time/effort put into mining the rock, the time/resources put into forging my own hammers, the time resources put into making my own persistence pies/fast brews is why i got that amount of xp in that timeframe. Effort=reward imo
I completely understand it may be an overpowered way to quickly level, so im ok with a nerf. But changing xp received to 0 is too much. Change the xp gained from 2 to 1 and dont let teaching pies apply to stone crafting. That will stop players from “exploiting” (using the current meta) to level because the gain wouldnt be worth the effort of tediously clicking 30 times for each crafting table. But people would still get a slight reward for their time at the very least if they are making stones to use for building only.
I’m sorry if I repeat anything, but I was re-watching some Stranger Things and playing OW and didn’t keep up for the last number of hours…and I’m not reading over 100 posts
I was wondering…we keep saying that certain activities aren’t providing enough exp when compared to others. Let’s break this down briefly.
Mining, hunting, gathering, building, crafting, forging, exploring (my fav, if it’s even a thing for a non-max who doesn’t have an ingame income.)
So of those we find hunting tends to provide a good amount of exp. Then this rock thing, which I was very late to the party about, but not entirely unaware of it. Never done it, won’t do it now either.
That’s not many high exp activities really, not when you take in to account skill points making you less efficient at certain aspects.
WHAT IF. What if there was an early on, in the first Epic skill area, a choice between ‘classes’. This epic skill would raise the exp for activities associated with the chosen epic.
So, for example. You’re a builder, it’s love, it’s life. You take the Epic Builder Skill. Suddenly you gain an additional 250% (totally fabricated number) from placing blocks, and chiselling. Perhaps even throw reduced fall damage in there
Or you’re an Explorer () with the Epic Explorer Skill. You gain 350% bonus exp from discovering regions, and perhaps a higher chance of some as-yet unknown tasty explorer feature
(wishful thinking?!)
These percentages are made up, obviously. But they could be adjusted, played about with, until they reach a balance with other epic ‘class’ skills.
And better yet, if a hunter fancies spending a day building, they could switch out the skill and still feel like they’re getting somewhere.
Now I’m hoping this post doesn’t get lost in the massive thread created here
Very interesting idea. This is the type of post I miss most from EA.
I would bet my life on it that the screenshot that, @QuimbyBoundless posted was from the test server and the shot taken after scoffing a few Cheat Loaves. Hence why they said “Jokes aside” directly after the image.
Just a shame that it seems like, @james is taking the image seriously.
Yea thats what im thinking also. Im on ps4 so im not using an autoclicker, but even with an autoclicker you’re not getting 11 mil xp in a reasonable amount of time. And you would need almost 900k-1 mil rock to get those results
That is an amazing idea. 100% yes please.
Anyhoo! Everyone excited about the exo planets??
Better have a nice coin stash tho for all the warping!
And for people who are as scatter brained as me:
better check and double check you have everything with you since it’s gonna cost ya twice otherwise!
I do however feel like we keep forgetting about one other really important thing:
forging the new tools.
If they are indeed that difficult to do then one has got to wonder if they are going to be worth it. So I seriously am wondering if the effectiveness shouldn’t be upped a bit. Sure, perhaps we shouldn’t be able to get them as good as current gem ones as it’s looking now it’s gonna be tough to even get something usable out of them without having to keep retrying over and over…
My biggest complaint about this hole patch tho:
is that it releases when I’m on the bloody (pun intended) operation table!
So I got this to say to the rest of ya:
you lucky bastards!
