@james
I have not read all 180 or so posts and apologize if this has already been asked:
Would it be possible to pre-release the warning system prior to the control and effect aspects of the system. Or perhaps do a single evaluation a couple weeks prior to release. I say this because some people have large complex existing plots and this may effect them unexpectedly. That may be desired, but it could give people a chance to get you live feedback and prepare. And hopefully get a chance to come to terms with the new rules without panicking.
Ok so my #1absolutely must address this before going live concern is: bridges. Will these simply cease to be a thing? Who in their right mind will go 5 plots wide just to build a bridge now?? I like bridges. They get me from point A to point B. Gonna have to change the name to Bound at this rate.
I think one plot wide is enough for many cases in game for bridges as current rule is that one plot wide can go far as 15 plots distance (120m). Just by adding some 3x3 plot nodes should allow some plots more, and could make bridge look just better
I haven’t seen in the thread…how will this impact the roads of cities?
So if someone builds a road , one plot wide, that snakes through a city so people can build on plots. Is that no longer allowed ? Or because they are touching other plots it is fine
What if you’re road only scatters or snakes through within your own settlement and doesn’t bother anyone else? What if that same beacon also has large squarish areas that also have a tower? Too many questions about this proposed change. Although it has been stated that building upwards doesn’t count in your favor. That doesn’t make any sense to me since you’re taking less land away from the game.
If the problem is reservation abuse, would it be enough to just turn reservations off (or not generate new reservations) for uncompact beacons, but still allow plotting and maybe even keep footfall/prestige?
This is actually incorrect. @lucadeltodecso has corrected me that the system doesn’t work this way.
If a beacon within a settlement is uncompact and gets 0 prestige - it will NOT split the Settlement. So no Settlements will split because of this change. The prestige from the beacon will be removed from the Settlement.
I’m also for changes but drastic ones could be the fall of the game and by the sounds of it also River Towns (apparently the oldest city in the game I was told) may go down with it.
@james I think you need to pop over and see Darthpain @Damagekai about the new build we have that’s connected to a large road as there wasn’t room near the city to put it maybe there are still ways to connect buildings like this to our city for genuine players like us Without abusing the new system??
Then i do not understand what the meaning of this innovation is.
Existing territories will be able to remain in their current form, and new players will not be able to reserve territories in the current way?
I just don’t understand the purpose
@james…in regards to #3 above, Once you hit zero compactness, you cannot add plots to correct the score. You have to remove at least one plot to start correcting it.
As I said your prestige on that beacon will go down to 0 and you won’t be able to expand it. If this doesn’t seem like a problem to you the I guess you should not worry about this update
So i can reserve any territory before the update and forget about it? You’re right, prestige doesn’t really matter to me. In the same way, it is not important to those who collect the buildings of all the players, regardless of their desire.
I tried these functions on the test branch and understood perfectly how it works. After the updade, you can’t reserve any form of territory, even if you don’t need prestige. At the same time, we will have a huge amount of abuse and i wonder what will happen to this?)
