There’s that community spirit!

Yeah see roads and plots for me anyway have always been my way out of griefing situations not to grief. So thats a tool I will not have at my disposal but Im smart Ill find a way as always.
NIGHTSTAR wins the internets today! ty Sir for the laughs
I think the conquering is referring to titans or “ancients protectors” as stated on that page. I do not think it was alluding to conquering each other.
Well there aint none of those that Ive seen so theres that lol
Right, not yet. Maybe in time.
I’m super happy though that this game is not like “rust”, I stay away from battle royal survive games. I don’t find them fun because I don’t survive long. Takes the fun out of it for me.
No force merging and intimidation should not be used. But just claiming land has started many wars and someone is always the conqueror or the conquered.
Why are you arguing about conquest?
This update doesn’t stop it
the only thing it brings is limitations as already described in a few copmentaries:
city construction will suffer new players have more to learn and more unused space will be created as my example shows
it just misses the point of preventing abuse
This is someone’s house on Sorissi. It’s awesome how he plotted that island. They’re telling him that it isn’t enough of a “lil compact area”… this is despicable to me. And for the record- these maps are showing me that none of my current beacons are affected. But 4 are in our city.
If anyone else is seeing these maps I can’t see how anyone would agree with this. Every planet has numerous settlements connected by long roads that are being flagged. This will be an epic mess if it makes it through.
@Cuetzpalomitl this is what I mean by limiting creativity.
Ironically, the way to fix that situation is to plot a bunch of ocean plots that won’t be used, thereby taking advantage of the reservation system.
I hope you also read the statement about this not coming to live until it’s acceptable for the majority, and also there is a way to play with the threshold that may help this kind of areas be accepted.
That is not “taking advantage of the reservation system”. Plotting lines with a gap of two plots is taking advantage of the reservation system (look at the Bitula map for what looks like examples of this to me). If they want to expand further will they have to remove plots at the tip where the plotting is thinnest or add plots at that same point? I would think yes.
if this rolls out even close to how it is right now i’m going to be beyond furious.
i don’t even know why this game is called boundless.
I feel that it should roll out in “view mode” to start so people have 2 or so weeks of it on the live universe but not actually “enforce anything.” This way people see it in real time, can fix their stuff, and then we turn it on after 2 weeks or so…
Ah ok, I see it now. If you plot irregular areas due to landmasses then it would be no good
So would it be better if they get over that ratio it just drops the reservation plots? Preventing the point of reservation abuse?
Here is the thing I can’t get past with all of this. We have a player base that is doing abusive things around plot reservations. We also have a player base trying to do structured planned communities. We are about to refund all the abusive players a bunch of plots. Do we really expect them to not troll again by finding a new way to troll? They are going to just use their newly freed plots to make small compact plots with just enough built on it to pass compactness but strategically placed to screw with large city expansions or something similar to lash out.
Bottom line is trolls will be trolls and while this takes away one method they troll it doesn’t mean they will suddenly stop trolling it means they will find another way to troll.
The core issue is between trolls and players who are self-organizing settlements that bring players together. This is an MMO, cities are what make this game feel like an MMO yet players have virtually no systems to help protect establishing these things and the few tools they had are not only being taken away but running the settlement and providing its infrastructure is also being penalized simply because trolls hopped on the bandwagon and used similar approaches to troll.
At the end of the day Compactness is a complicated bandaid that isn’t going to address the underlying issue. Wonderstruck needs to figure out a way to support cities so players are encourage try and organize them as well as be part of them while keep trolls at bay. I am skeptical this will honestly be possible without dedicated worlds or spaces for cities in which plottable area is predetermined by a specific plan and the infrastructure is either operated by Wonderstruck or there is a mechanic for players or guilds guardians of a city, etc…
i would like a real answer as to why on these roads. this isn’t going to encourage people to even play together- you can’t set up cities at all. and yes i get that the punishment is no more plotting and no prestige but how is that fair? this isn’t bothering anyone- and i’m agreeing with a previous comment. if you hand all the plots back to trolls then they’ll just find something new to do in order to ruin play experiences.
i saved up for months in plots to be able to plot 900 blocks straight in one direction off the side of our city- straight into nowhere that touches NO other beacons.
and i’m punished by having all that being worthless. and the only thing i have left to do is try to mega claim everything all around it. and even that doesn’t look like it will solve the issue.
i don’t even understand the name Boundless for the game.
I agree with your idea but I’m probably not the only one who will need to shuffle 100’s if not 1000’s of plots around and 2 weeks does not seem like a lot of time…
I’ve already started to remove some plots of my settlement’s outer areas and fill in some gaps. I have many unused portal hubs around all the planets that I will want to break down to the last block and then delete to gain more plots. I will look carefully thru my entire beacon list to see if there are places on planets that I can perhaps delete as well so I have more plots to solve the issue, but two weeks is soooo not going to cut it.
Two months sounds a lot better… Especially since I do not want to spend my entire play time each day just to try to ‘solve’ this…
Maybe a plotting rule can be added to solve for this? If exterior plots are water then it doesnt count against the plotting compactness?
At surface level for the two plots around
I think this compactness thing is a massive headache. Not only for the players but the devs wasting time implementing and tweaking it. If there’s only a few people truly abusing the system, take action against those players. Give them the headache of fixing their own stuff or just ban them.
It’s obvious when people are trolling/being *****. Get rid of the filth. I’d rather have a few problem players upset than everyone else simply playing the game
My solution is get rid of plot reservations, get rid of this compactness stuff, and give us settlement opt out.
