He said nope.
I know and that is why I wrote first part
Assume it will be the same design and options we see now. Nothing in the notes are hinting at them changing portal size code.
How does portals within creative mode world’s allow for exploitation? What does it mean “to prevent the use of creative world’s as an “oortshard-free” way to generate hub networks”? If the oortcost for running portals in creative is free what’s the point in making it so you can’t make portals between creative world’s?
Because you could make free portals anywhere you want then within just 3 portals. Just portal to the survival world you’re orbitting for free, make a portal to a creative world orbitting the planet of your choice, then that world can open a portal to their survival world. Free travel to any survival planet.
The reason I bring this up has nothing to do with changing the portal size code. I’m asking since portals are free to power if they applied any limits to the size within creative mode since only 2x1 is needed or if they could do a massive 15x15 portal to the survival world they’re orbitting for free.
I don’t think part is allowed though.
For your second step I believe you’d be limited to only worlds orbiting the world you’re on. But definitely agreed about having like 50 free portals to any regions
I thought about that as well that maybe portals between creative worlds orbitting the same planet could be allowed. I don’t really see exploitability in that, at least at first glance.
I wasn’t planning on a creative world but might have to look into it to set up 50 portals to different regions for speed hunting
. This is definitely going to crash the oort market
I would assume any size would be free but I guess we just have to wait until you get a response or someone can try a test of this.
There are no drops on creative
Make hunting platform in every region in Lamblis. Rent creative world that ehh orbits Lamblis. Then setup a 50 region portal hub on creative to each hunting platform on Lamblis
This would def be bad.
How would a person go from platform portal to platform portal though? Do they have to go to the Creative planet 1st? What is the cost/method to get to a creative planet? Hopefully we’ll know soon.
@james, @rossstephens, a few questions
- will lua scripts be supported on creative worlds, on release or in the future?
- can you run your own creative world server on pc for free on release or in the future?
- if a server can be run locally can it connect to the public universe?
- would you consider allowing a creative and sovereign to be connected with a free portal if they are orbiting the same public world?
Yeah they need to use the hunting platform hub on the creative world. So to go from one platform to the next you take the portal to the hub on creative, there you take a portal to another platform.
It’s two portal hops but it is free and beats warping!
What Aenea said.
I think you still have to warp from the ground after a meteor to the creative hub. Interplanetary warps would cost more than warping to the next platform. Unless I’m missing a step.
Still the general idea that portals can be exploited seems true from the current info.
The missing step is just going back to the creative hunting platform hub via the portal you just used. Then you take the next portal to the next region.
How do you get back up to the portal you just used? Surface bumper would work but you’d have to run back after the meteor.
Grapple platforms or an old fashioned staircase
