The Direction of this Game with 199 is Troubling

I’ve just tipped over 1000 hours and, for many of the same reasons, I doubt I’ll make it to 1100 let alone 2000. Last night I couldn’t face playing. Punishing is a good way to describe the process of doing everything you need before you can build in this “sandbox” MMO. Leisure should not be punishing.

Extra work is extra work. Minimising it with “It’s easy” doesn’t negate the fact it’s extra work.

During Early Access, I was already getting a bit worn out, so I’d go through periodic bouts of just not even wanting to look at my build - it hurt, because I knew that I’d have to go back into the coal mines for a few days before I could actually enjoy myself again. Spark costs for bricks gave me a permanent -10 Enthusiasm… Then came Power, and my mental stamina took another big hit.

By the end of Early Access, I wouldn’t even mine anymore. I had about 250,000c saved up, and I threw ALL of it at The Gemporium to buy bricks. Finished what I could with those materials… and just cancelled the entire rest of the project. No rear facade, no outer buildings - that would just have to do, because I wasn’t going to punish myself over something that’d be gone in a few months.

I decided to wait until launch. I knew that… then… they would surely… fix… things…?

Oops.

Dunno about you, but I hardly find any of them.

This is bad for the market. Greedy shops will raise the price of them to cash in on this. And it can also deter people from playing.

Not good at all…

Devs please reconsider and fix it!

Well, someone pointed quite important thing to that discussion…

Yes that is a good compromise imo. I’m fine with those kind of changes. In fact I like most about 199 (furniture is awesome), I just don’t like the bomb nerf which as stated before is a “fun-nerf”. But all in all it’s a good update.

Anyway, i’ll be here to stay, the devs just need some time to figure out all the feedback. I’d rather have them mess up sometimes than not ever trying new things.

I agree 100% that they are 100% nerfing fun and making it a boring grind which is going to run off most of the player base and their game is going to die off that fast!

I will never understand why, to some gamers, a great part of the fun value of a game is going to forums to constantly predict that the game is about to fail catastrophically. Usually those predictions are made daily, for many years, and with no regard for reality, seemingly just for the fun of it.

I could try to try to explain a bit of it using my own worlds… but they did it waaay better:

i dont like some aspects of this patch, but its not like im gonna quit the game.
the fact that ppl complain is because they like the game, so the predict that “game is going to die” is weird.

I agree. I complain because I like the game and want to continue to have fun with it. If I really thought the game was going to die, or no longer be fun, I’d just leave and not bother to post here.

I want the game to be fun and improve with each patch. I don’t think this latest update did that. I’m hoping that offering negative feedback will influence the devs to look at their changes and communication approach and change from their current course.

+1 OP, when I first read about wax for decorative my first thoughts were ffs really!
‘Make Boundless great again, stop nerfing fun’ -2018 campaign slogan.

i just think there’s more room for shops to step up now, gatherers need to get more money from them for collecting these now very in-demand resources and builders can go to buy whatever they need.

To me they’ve made it harder to play every role at once, but that’s ok because economy is at the core of the game and i see that bringing all the play styles to work together.

well I guess people cry " the game is going to die" because it’s easier then to actually analyze and critic what doesn’t work.
It’s sensationalist, like the click-bait articles. On reddit it’s also called “karma-whoring” for easy clicks and upvotes.

The only thing is that they are always right.
The game is going to die but if done well it’s going to take a decade or 2.

I will disagree that the economy is the core of the game, building to me is the core of the game. And they have made that more resource intensive.

The grind is the core ! :sunglasses:

I agree, they nerfed the fun. Cant even buold anymore. I have been playing rougly 12 hours a day since the 4 day early start on ps4. After the patch yesterday, i messed around on game a little, not really doing anything. Then i just quit. I tried toplayagian last night but i just feel like the fun is gone. I have just been on the forums and watching netflix. If its not better by the time the next releases come out that i am looking forward to, the second and third week of Oct, i will probably just uninstall and not come back.

You know what you are right. . The game is becoming all about the grind.
Just like real life. . work work work.

I thought I was playing a game to enjoy myself and not to have another job???

Fair enough.

@Dhusk Well said sir. The problem is that nowadays developers want to force players to log in to games more frequently and spend more time in their game. The fact is , this strategy works the opposite (at least for me)
Why do you think world of warcraft player base has decreased so drastically ? Because they do the same.
And why minecraft , dota , CSGO , RB6 players grow more and more? because they don’t do the same mistake.
The game is fun when you CHOOSE to spend time in it. It’s not fun when you have to log in so you move stuff from one machine to the other so they are done till tomorrow. I really wanted to play this game in my free times 1-2 hours and have fun. But this game turned out to be more of a “Working” than a “Game” .

The sole purpose of games are lost. Fun
