You can buy alts and skillsets anytime you want.

I was happy with the way it was minus the bugs
what are we complaining then
Scroll up and ask yourself that question again
I already read them
I think we can summarize this th in
‘more grind reee I go back to minecraft’
correct me if i am wrong
Does it matter that people are already building gigantic bases with high quality blocks on high-end planets? Is that not the point? Is this not a sandbox? Consider the following metaphor:
We’re all participants in the 100m hurdles at the Olympics. It’s a hard race already and it will take a lot of effort to clear all those hurdles and cross the finish line. Further, we know this is one of many, many such races. While we’re doing one mete today, we’ll be running another mete tomorrow, and the next day, and then there’s upcoming races after the olympics. All the while, we’ve been training and working towards our goal of successfully completing the 100m hurdles.
Race day comes and we’re all lined up on the track awaiting the sound of the gun when a member of the judges panel drives a truck onto the track and tacks on 10 more hurdles and another 40m.
Where do I get the coin to do so?
Oh, that’s right, by grinding materials and selling them.
Well if I’m going to grind materials to sell them, why not just grind the materials I need to begin with?
Grind… Grind… Grind… Grind… Grind…
This game is, by no means, extreme grinding. We do not even lose our stuff when we die. It takes a few weeks to reach max level. People will build their masterpieces, get bored, then leave. There isn’t even an economy to play with to keep people interested. Yes, this is a sand box MMO, but it is a sand box MMO in a sea of other sand box MMOs and single player builder games. Keeping material farming and crafting as simplified as it is in this game is not the answer to keeping players interested and I am sure the developers realize this. You only need two crafting characters at like, level 20 each, to have access to every recipe and building material in the game…
Didn’t play minecraft. I never said i dont like grinding. I do. If u want to buy your items cool. I prefer making them myself. As I said, my “complaint” was the usefulness of silver/gold.
Not necessarily. You can earn coins from making cool or useful buildings that other people want to visit. You can join forces with other players, create a thriving metropolis, and subsist on footfall only with just a few plots each. You can team up with people that like to gather, and other people that like to mine, and other people that like to hunt (I’m assuming you like to build) and build a cool looking shop that everyone will want to visit, to sell the materials gathered from all those professions for a percentage of the proceeds (and more footfall).
That’s just off the top of my head. I’m sure that with some creative thinking, many other such avenues can be found. But if you must solo, then yes, it’s kinda part and parcel that it will involve some hurdles and extra grinding, I believe that’s a compromise that one must make (in pretty much every comparable game) if one strives to be completely self-sufficient.
Just like real life!
This is a great analogy but I should also point out that people are naturally competitive when playing with others. Progression in MMOs is often not just about what you do personally but what you can show off to others that you’ve done.
That’s true, and it’s a fair goal to have. Bragging rights are a deliciously tasty carrot.
I was just trying to remind people that, to paraphrase Alan Watts, boundless (and life in general) is like a dance or a piece of music, the purpose of a dance is not to arrive at a specific point on the floor, and the point of a piece of music is not to get to its finishing note. Otherwise the best conductors would be the ones that get there faster.
Can agree. Game is starting to feel like clash of clans to hide the fact it lacks pvp and pve combat.
I am already part of the largest (prestige-wise) settlement in the entire universe, am in a high-traffic area, and have the possible footfall coin earning maximized (for my beacon).
You’re also missing the point that the game was ALREADY a huge grind and this latest patch simply introduced more arbitrary grinds within those grinds.
Well for me without grind there is no game, I need to feel accomplished for earning each part of what I build and each skill I obtain etc… if any of this happens to easily I lose interest fast. So how do you please both types of gamers?
They increased surface resource spawns by something like 4x. Even if you dont want to go gathering for a bit I’m sure once the economy adjusts things like waxy earthyams will be dirt cheap since they’re so plentiful now!
