I have a shop in the G/ Mall, The Making of Greatness, sell food and the ingredients to make them.
It is a nice place. I will admit that I don’t make a lot, but a lot is that there are a lot of shops selling food and only so many people need to buy food. I had thought of New Lyden Market, but they have a fantastic food shop there so it would be a waste of my time and food items. And I don’t like the thought of putting up a shop just for the footfall.
No matter how great a mall or market it, no matter how caring and committed the owners/developers of those malls or markets are, they can not stop players from taking advantage and setting up a shop just to get footfall. It is to their credit that they do they a great job in trying to keep it down, but it will happen. If someone wants to find a way to cheat, they will.
I’m looking at other items to sell besides food and seeing if there is something that I can make, create, that I can sell.

The negatives and perceived negatives about this game are worth discussion. Sometimes it can result in improvements to the game, other times other players can help with the problem.

How about the pre-cursors of food and brews? Sugar, bags of flour, boost oil, that sorta thing?
Taking advantage of what or whom? Who cares if someone builds something for the footfall? I don’t own a shop. I make builds primarily for the footfall. An Oort’s gotta eat ya know!

She’s referring to people taking spots in a place like the Gyosha Mall that has a specific function as a concentrated location of shops for people to buy and sell, and using it for the footfall instead of the intended purpose of shopping.
That being said, I don’t step foot inside a shop unless it actually looks like a shop with effort put into and things to buy/sell.

We do have a shop that is shaped like an actual ship…if you explore and go down below, they have some good items for sale. I’m a curious person though, so I will sometimes check out odd things 
If I’m in a hurry while shopping I will only go into shops/portals where I can see what I’m looking for 
LOL You’ll have to visit my shop. Rice, oats, four, baking powder, sugar, butter, purified butter, yams (cooked and raw) then I have some food items, yam stew, meaty casserole, meaty risotto, meat loaf yam and berry bread and now I can go and get the green berries on Delta C so the foods that need them, with the farms for the green yams I can make items needing them. Able now to handle the critters so can go and get the milk gland so can make the purified butter. With a spot on Delta C that I have close to the portal I have been able to get prime meat and sometimes road runners so building up lean meat.
There are just so many shops that sell food and I’m a bit distance from the main area. Not complaining, it is a fact of life the early bird gets the worm and I was late in getting a shop set up. Was just hoping that having the early ingredients would help those who want to make food but don’t want the hassle of collecting grass seeds, making the flour, getting sap and berries to make the sugar would buy those items.
As for why would it matter if a person sets up a shop just to get footfall? I guess it is a personal aspect of mine, I see it was a form of cheating, you open up a shop and do nothing, sell nothing, no work in getting the items to sell but because you have a shop in a busy area you can get 1 to 2k coins a day.
I go and gather the seeds to make the grains, chop down the leaves from the trees to get the berries to make sugar chop the wood for the sap for syrup. I kill the goats for the milk glands and get the iron to make the nails for the buckets, cook the butter, make it into purified butter which take charcoal which I have to burn wood to get so more wood or coal for fuel.
I go to higher level planets to get the green berries, buy the more expensive shovels to get the green yams, take on the higher level critters to get the prime meat and other items needed to make the food. I guess it is the principle of it all. I work and earn the footfall. The person who sets up a shop is a lazy jerk, in my opinion, who does nothing and get coins for sitting and doing nothing. That is my opinion and no one has to agree with it or even like it that I see it that way.
Oh, and I hardly ever get even a 1k coins in a day, except for times like now with the holiday event, got just over 1k coins today, usually less than 600 coins a day.
I would gladly give up getting 1k in footfall for 600 coins that I earned from getting supplies and making the food.

Hit the nail on the head. Looks half done, a request basket, a couple stands that are empty and has been that way for over a month does not a shop make, but a scam to get footfall.
harsh sounding, but that is what I see it as, a scam, ripping off @majorvex work in creating a mall for players to set up a shop and the players who run by, stick their head in to see what is being sold.
You build a shop, decorate it, have items for sale, or even have request baskets that have coin in them and check them daily to see if anyone has dropped off some goodies for you, that is a shop.
majorvex can’t do a thing to stop it, she has no control over the shops, I do know she tries her best, and does a Great job in what she is doing, but she can’t hand out eviction notices to players who use the mall for being cheaters. And that is what I see it as, cheating.

you could hold some rules and close the shop off if it doesn’t follow regulations but then someone gonna pull the " i am a artist and mud is my paint " trick at the embassy hub im doing it differently by keeping the property our self we stay boss and can evict whenever we feel needed

You can’t stop people from plotting the planet and you can’t block them in 100%. In my case, I strategically built the mall in a way where I can place 4 blocks and prevent them from using the our mall’s walkway/road. It’s a really good deterrent lol. I’ve used it a couple of times and everyone knows what it means. 99% of everyone is respectful & helpful though.
I try to be respectful but the other day I was in the mall looking for fibrous leaves and couldn’t find the bathroom…(you might find a mess in one of the alleys…sorry about that).
