Free to play?

I’m ok with that :ok_hand:

I don’t understand how all those people play Minecraft when this game exists, I think there should be alot more people playing this game.

I used to practically live in MC. After playing Boundless, I’m like “Minecraft who?” lol Minecraft is too boring and simple now.

Minecraft gets the Mineshaft

MInecraft was first so it has that advantage. Minecraft does allow mods, but since it is not a MMO even if you can play in multi-player mode, you can use mods without creating issues for other players. I agree with some of the statements already made.

Once we can rent our own planets, I think that will help increase players
Once we have a full blown creative mode, we will see more players and we can get some of the time lapse
videos that minecraft has where you get to watch some amazing build happen. That was a draw for me.
Once we get blueprints or a copy function, it will be so much easier to do some of the epic builds that will
draw in players.

Advantages to Boundless is the MMO aspect, the ability to use chisels and it is just prettier and less blocky.

Total off topic :joy: But that being said, that game is very good in its own ways and I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again… I think boundless should take some ideas from it… the mastery system is a constant grind and keeps you constantly having something to do in game… having something implemented like that into this game would just be unreal.

I do like all of the different types of characters, dragons, decor, etc…but it is one of the games that’s pretty bad about taking items that require serious grind or can only be purchased with $$$, then gives them away for free at a later date.

The last big coin/store exploit & lack of follow-through with fixing accounts made me lose the last bit of respect I had for the game. The game is dead to me. 0/10, don’t recommend.

Well that is a game I do not have to try . . VEX said NO!!!:joy:

I don’t think this would be a bad idea.

I’m trying to think of a similar game that uses this strategy though & I cannot. I know a lot of MMORPGs do, but I don’t think Boundless falls into that category. I know MC went from free to $26 (or whatever it is now)

Wasn’t that the game that after a few farms build you practically didn’t have to do anything. And eventually you started over because of it.

(Back to Boundless) Can tell you won’t start over any more. 7 months in and not even halfway finished.

About this topic. No i think not. Shouldn’t be free.

Fine if its very limited and or more like a trail. But have to say make it a 3 planet universe all T1 or T2 (copy worlds of our universe) and if bought start over. Maybe add a “door way” or a “universe portal” so we can go and help if needed. But keep it separate from our universe. Maybe even give them a “separate chat” to.

If FTP and PTP are mixed its going to cause more problems than its worth.

At least thats what i think about it.

Thank you for the link/info. There are many games that have F2P with limited access or demos & you have to buy./subscribe to access the rest. I was just trying to think of a game similar to Boundless that does it & I cannot.

I play RS and if you don’t have a bond/subscription, you can only access a small portion of the map/dungeons and you can’t go past level 59 on your character. It’s not similar to Boundless though.

I’d say NMS is similar, but it has an upfront cost too.

I used to play Star Wars: The Old Republic. I’ve spent hundreds on that game for cosmetics.

I’m also in the spent ridiculous amounts of money on bdo club. If Boundless had anything to spend cubits on besides plots and 10 cosmetics I’d be throwing my entire game allowance at it every month and begging my boyfriend to let me spend more.

Plz let me be prettier.

Oh my god lol. This.

I don’t feel connected to my character at all the way I do with other games where I can customize my character. I feel like a spastic rock troll.

I want to be a unikitty!!!

Like I have said before I dont think this is a good idea. Boundless has found a way to make the game affordable for what it is and the fact that you can still play without a monthly subscription is even more impressive given their team size and the number if servers they have to run. They also have made cubits a sustainable currancy without having to “pay to win”.
IMHO it would be a deal breaker for me and make me stop playing if the devs changed the cubits system or the fee structure in any way, because they have balanced it nicely to make the game not cost $60 and make sure that even without spending money you can get more plots, gear etc. through leveling.
The other bad effect this would have I am sure is that people would begin to perceive it as i said above a “pay to win” game and ditch it shortly after buying it. This could also turn off long time players as well.
I know plenty of players that even after level 50 level 2 to 3 times a day. That is 900 cubits a day x 20 days is 18k in cubits multiply that by 12 months and thats over 180k in cubits. Thereby making being able to give cubits irrelevant.
I don’t see how or why it is so difficult to earn free cubits to do what you want/need the way the system currently is. Besides you can get a couple thousand cubits for 10/15 bucks. So I don’t think there really is a problem at all with cubits the way they are currently.

Orignally stated in this thread about cubits Cubits gifting idea
