World Builder Pre-built Biome Preview

This post was originally here but I think the numerous pictures may have hit a hidden data limit b/c it won’t let me add any more to that original post. Doing this b/c I’m bored and because I said I potentially would. A couple of notes here. I’m using the same palette for all of these (or trying to). Also the default heightmap and generator seem to be set such that all of these biomes include a river. I don’t think that will actually happen if we use these biomes in game but it’s something …

You get a pretty nice overview of what you’ll get due to the images during the biome selection which should allow you most of the setups you know from exos and public planets.
I’m waiting for the outcome of our planets now. We mixed mountains and forests on our exo while the mid-sized planet should be mostly flat with a few exceptions if it ends up as expected/planned

Once the planet is genned i think you have to enter the key in boundless to activate your planet and do color selection.

Fuel seems very expensive for a 6km world, while the player limit seems rather tiny for a 3km world.

But maybe that’s just me. Not that I planned to buy a world, though.

If 1 block is a meter then thats 1000 blocks per km so a 6km planet would be 6k blocks in circumference. Thats huge for a voxel cube based muning game. Especially if you do

6000x250(max height)=1.5mil potential block spots. Thats a lot to process.

Where a 4.5m*1000 = 1.125 mil potential block spots.

Not too much difference but holding on to that extra 375k possible block positions takes even more processing.

It asks you to chose “at least x” biomes from each tier; for example at least 1 biome tier 2, at least 3 biomes tier 3, at least 5 biomes tier 4, at least 2 biomes tier 5.
Size of the world doesnt seem to matter - for a larger world biomes will occupy larger areas if you chose the same number of biomes.
There doesn’t seem to be a limit for biome numbers - I didn’t see such info during the process, but maybe there is a pop-up message when you go for 50 biomes (just an example).
It’s up to us now to decide if we pick just the minimum number of biomes required or if we go for more. The more we chose the smaller the specific biomes will be I suppose (terrain will change faster when exploring such world).

There are biomes that have water in them - even pure water (sea) biomes. Other have rivers or pools of water in them. That also reminds me I forgot to mention before (I will update previous post) - before chosing biomes I was asked to decide what kind of river pattern I want on my planet - there were irregular rivers of different density to chose from as well as regular patterns of rivers (like straight lines across worlds or spirals like on some starting public worlds we know). There is also a choice of having no rivers at all.
Larger bodies of water are only accessible through chosing sea biomes.

I think they are over priced for a single person to be able to use. Like i would pay like 40 dollars a year for a 6k one. Unless you knew several people to help pay for it its way to much.

I don’t think the intent is for a single person to purchase a 6k one. That’s a little overboard. Also they have to reserve server space for these planets. The prices seem quite fair in my opinion.
