I GUESS THIS IS MOSTLY WRONG AGAIN, AFTER THE MOST RECENT PATCH :frowning:

Thanks to @Jiivita for the original post (images, formatting, data etc…) and to anyone who contributed to that thread in any way. All the data in this new one should be updated for the current release I hope!
If you are able to add anything to this, or know how the atmosphere stuff works (see below by the atmosphere foods), or if anything here seems wrong then please say :grinning:

Without further ado:

Brews Brew Small

One time use items that applies either an instant effect or a short-term buff (usually lasting 1 to 2 minutes)

NB: Skills will scale with most foods and brews, so having intelligence for example will make healing brews more effective.

Kinetic describes all damage that is single target (Spitter shots, Wildstock, Cuttletunk projectiles (including homing))

Impulse describes all damage that is multi-target (AoE) (Bombs, Death Rays, Hoppers)

Armour is a flat reduction of damage (100 damage -10 armour = 90 sustained damage)

Resistance is a chance to avoid all damage (50% kinetic resistance allows the player to take 0 damage from kinetic attacks 50% of the time)

Atmospheres

Atmosphere level can go up to level 10, and your atmosphere protection can too, so I guess if your protection level is greater than or equal to the atmosphere level, you are invulnerable to the atmosphere.

Remember to correct me on this if anything seems wrong! Nobody other than me has sanity checked this :crazy_face:

The only thing I can note for a certainty(through my own testing) is that healing brews scale up with intelligence points, so the “intelligent” your character the more hp you gain upon using the brews. :wink:

Am I reading this correctly that the instant brews now heal more than the slow healing brews? The old post was the opposite. What’s the point of using slow healing brews then?

None whatsoever, especially that right now it cost the same amount of resources :frowning:

Sheesh. This makes no sense whatsoever that the devs would reverse this.

The instant heal requires an extra ingredient, so the slow aren’t useless if you don’t have an abundance of orbs but it does seem a bit out of balance to have two negatives (slow healing, less healing) compared to one (extra ingredient).

Pulsating Orb isn’t a deal breaker for the Instant healing brews. They’re common enough to find…unlike sweetbeans.

I felt the slow heal in combination with giving more total HP was the proper counter to the instant brews. I just don’t get their logic in reversing this.

Keep in mind that WELL FED buff foods override the others.
So don’t use them when you are affected by other buffs.
Eat simple food instead.

Actually Restorative Oil and especially Sulphur fragments are first possible barrier.
Than Bark is second.
Pulsating orb is least problematic of those cause you have huge amount of it from cloth grinding.

I propose making a larger difference in effect between persisting loaf and pies. The cost to make them differs greatly, making the loaf the preferable choice right now. What about extending it’s (pie) effect by 10 or 20 minutes over the loaf?

Atmosphere prot has actually no effect if you are under the level of the planet. It either works or it doesn’t. If it is high enough, you have no issue on the planet. Too low, and you are blinded and you suffocate at the same rate, no matter how many points you have in it.

Yea, one of the more recent patches changed how atmosphere protection works altogether. I think I prefer this new way though, it seems a bit more straight forwarded and understandable, compared to before.
